tgslTakoma was up late putting Vietnam Memorial Wall (DC) Defaced Sept 7-8, 2007: PART 2 on youtube and asked that this be posted.
Part 3 will show the vandalism to the Nurses Statue and the Brothers Statue.
tgslTakoma also noticed on East Wall Panel 15E that it had multiple deep, long, vertical scratches/gouges. That will also be in Part 3

The short of my previous post is that the anti-war nuts -- if given Media Attention -- might use this as a tactic to protest Iraq and start desecrating other memorials and maybe repeatedly desecrating the Vietnam Memorial...

These idiots are doing this all over the country, even without publicity. So if it gets out what they are doing, maybe some fence sitters will take notice of the real agenda of the anti-war kooks.

Just returned from a visit to the wall and walk around the other memorials too.
Has anyone reported on the current “look” of the vandalism? I don’t want to just repeat it all.

I am trying to find information that has been given here.
There are 3 threads going and I can not seem to get the latest information.
I went to the Wall tonight and the damage is still evident.
Maybe when the Part 3 is posted I will be able to add some thoughts.

If true, that is very good news.
I hope they clean it up soon.

Takoma viewed some spots immediately after the power washing had surface dried somewhat. But you are the first that has reported the WALL’s condition after several days.
There has been a concern that the longer the oily substance stayed on the way, the more it would seep in.
Did you notice any damage to the WALL’s face?

I apologize to those who read my ping last night and then saw the post removed. And now I'm pinging you again, just so that you know the letter is back up.
While I had to remove Post 84, here is the link to the proper posting, #98, of the letter.
The Military Order of the Purple Heart is the organization that is now reconsidering how it has reported the defacing of the WALL.
I hate rushing my posts. Something always gets messed up.
Also, Christopher Lincoln has a link to all the FR threads concerning the vandalism in his Post 95. Thanks.

Incompetence probably. Can’t talk too bad about the Park Service. They are the ones that will be "protecting" us from ourselves this Saturday.

I am convinced that the so-called citizens of this country just no longer give a damn. The citizens of this country will care only if the main stream media tells them to care. Of course that will never happen.

I think it was the Black Block. Vandalizing symbols of American pride, strength or anything to do with the military is their raison d’etre. They are sneaky ignorant little punks who roam in packs, fashionably attired in black, accessorized with chains and terrorist kaffiyehs. If a Veteran caught one of them alone, he’d cry and wet his pants, being the cowards that they are.

I still care.
I used to live out there and get downtown by the wall once in a while. If I had seen anyone doing that...I'd probably be writing this from jail 'cause I'd have put the SOBs in the hospital.

Takoma’s video shows the Park Service spray washing the WALL on Monday AM, but it still appears to be stained. Hopefully the stains will fade with time, but not before GoE III.
