Sorry for this vanity -- but each year the original thread was bumped for reading on the anniversary. It is painful, gut-wrenching, and disturbing. But it is a real reminder of what happened to us that day.
I did not see it bumped -- and I am guessing it might no loger exist with the passing of 5 years

I spent most of that day on FR. Most people in the company went home early. I wound up holding down the fort.
I actually took one customer call that day, after the attacks. In the afternoon a guy called to see if we could could ship him parts for a server emergency he was having. But with flights grounded his order had to go by UPS Ground. And I’m pretty sure it didn’t ship until the next day, but I did what I could for him.
I don’t think he wanted to be working any more than I did.
Bump for later this evening.
Post #89 was the first reference I found to Osama Bin Laden. Was FReeRepublic the first to call it?................

This in an important way to spend every 9-11 anniversary — rereading and watching actual footage and commentary from that day. This thread brought me back, sad and grateful that it exists so that all of us may never forget.
One question though — it seems that there is a break between post 208 and 209. Time goes from before the towers collapse to later that evening. Anyone know where the missing comments are?

Didn’t tape anything on 9/11, but WBAP/Dallas ran real time audio for the an anniiversary. I rolled about 4 hours from the original bullitin to well past all commercial airplanes being grounded. I make ti a point to replay the mp3 every 9/11.
