Grand Junction Mayor Jim Doody ...
is one of 40 mayors in the country who will gather in Utah for four days beginning Sunday to learn the latest information on global warming and what cities can do to address it.
The third-annual Sundance Summit is co-hosted by actor Robert Redfords environmental nonprofit organization, Sundance Preserve, Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson and the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives.
For me, personally, (it is about) being an elected official trying to balance all the growth we have here, all the great resources we have here, Doody said. At the same time, its my responsibility to make sure in 30 to 40 years from now, we have the air quality, we have the water quality.
The summit will focus on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Changes May report, which reaffirmed the urgency of global warming but indicated the most severe impacts could be avoided through energy efficiency and investment in cleaner technologies.
The summit will provide mayors with an overview on the latest climate science and offer ideas and tools they can use in their communities, such as purchasing renewable energy, improving energy efficiency and adopting green building codes.
The summit begins Sunday and runs through Wednesday.

Ping me if you find one I've missed.
This is pure BS. Many of the energy efficiency gains were captured in the '80s and '90s, and the remaining gains from energy efficiency will cost a lot more. Even if we could improve energy efficiency of all end-uses by 50%, that would be wiped out in less than 10 years due to population growth and the rapid modernization and industrialization of China and India. If "cleaner technologies" included the nuclear option, then we would be able to put a cap on CO2, but not until then.
What can cities do? Absolutely NOTHING!
Doody!
Just an excuse to party and go whoring on the taxpayer dime.
Thanks for the pings!

I'm all for keeping the air and water clean, but what does that have to do with global warming?
Why should we put a cap on C02? Why is C02 a bad thing? Would someone explain that to me. I think that the link between C02 and so-called global warming is specious. From what I have read it is the other way around, i.e. global warming increases the release of C02 from oceans, trees etc. Wrong?
Globel Warming is a hugh and series problem.
"DOOODY!"
Hey! That ain’t Doody. That’s Marco Polo!
NASA climate alarmist releases data
After many years of prodding James Hansen released the U.S. taxpayer funded data which he used to make inaccurate pronouncements about global warming. One of the statisticians who uncovered the faulty computer algorithm behind the infamous hockey stick curve comments on Hansen’s latest example of ‘cooking the books’ at the ClimateAudit blog.
