Norwegian Intelligence Active in Iran

The Chief of the Norwegian Intelligence Service, Torgeir Hagen has confirmed a NRK TV report stating that Norwegian intelligence is active inside Iranian borders. Expert is deeply shocked by the news.
Major General Torgeir Hagen says that the Intelligence Service is charting Iran's possible nuclear weapons program, registering threat against Norway's allies, and at the same time securing Norwegian interests in the country. Researcher at the the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI), professor Daniel Heradstveit, says he is deeply shocked by the news that Norwegian intelligence is operating inside Iran.
- As a small state we rather ought to take on the role of bridge builder towards Iran. But here we stand as a small nation and do the work that could be done by the larger nations, Heradstveit says.
It is known that Norway has for years contributed intelligence to US and British military operations around the world.
According to NRK, Norway has mounted extensive intelligence operations in the Balcans, Sudan, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Perhaps Norway remembers how many Birtish died freeing it from Nazi occupation.

There was no greater resistance in WW2 than the Norwegians. Although small in size, I bet they freed their fair share of Brits as well.

Well, the accent made me listen closer...but the callsign matched one reported as Norwegian. I wondered what it was doing up there, but have since read they have been intercepting the Russian Bear bombers recently. Or they could have been there for Red Flag.
There was a resistance...but there was also Quisling.

On the outside Norway comes across as another mind your own business european socialist country, but in reality their government is very pro US and their military has worked with ours for quite some time.

Was this some sort of an HF frequency with long range propagation or did you hear it on a scanner over the Internet?
If he was in Alaska and you are in California, I assume you were listening an an aeronautical/military HF frequency. Can you suggest good frequencies to monitor?

They were occupied by the Nazis until they surrendered after Hitler’s death. Whether they were under German control until then depends upon your definition of “under control.” Patrolling the Norwegian countryside in small numbers was not conducive to old age. Neither was walking alone after dark in many Norwegian cities. A lot of Germans simply went missing. It was easier on the local Norwegian population to have a German soldier disappear than to have a body show up.
