Washington, D.C. Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on conflicting news reports about the intentions of the White House and General David Petraeus to withdraw one brigade next year or to maintain the current troop level in Iraq. Below her statement is a fact sheet on Iraqs high level of violence and lack of political reconciliation:
Recent reports the National Intelligence Estimate, and the GAO and Jones Commission reports all document the widespread failure of the Iraqi government to meet critical political reform benchmarks set by President Bush himself in January.
The stay-the-course strategy by General Petraeus and the President to leave all troops in Iraq has been rejected by the American people.
We need a new direction in Iraq that will protect our troops, promote stability in the region, and make America more secure.

Recent reports the National Intelligence Estimate, and the GAO and Jones Commission reports all document the widespread failure of the Iraqi government to meet critical political reform benchmarks set by President Bush himself in January. Interestingly, recent reports also all document the widespread failure of the Democrat-infested US Congress to meet critical benchmarks set by the Constitution. Clearly we need to clean out that infestation by voting Commie traitors like Pelosi out of the next congress (well, I can dream, can't I? But knowing her district, they are likely to vote her back in or replace her with that other California kook)...

When is Pelosi going to get it through her shriveled head that she has no power over Bush on Iraq short of starving the troops out of Iraq?

Let’s see...54% of Americans support the war in Iraq
11% of Americans support the job Congress has done.
Hmmm...I wonder who’s more credible, Petraeus or Pelosi?

Isn’t she a tower of strength and leadership — with approval ratings at the lowest in recorded history?
She’s pitiful — which means I should feel pity for her. I can’t bring myself to it — loathing fits better.

Time for Pelosi to step down. Has failed to deliver and her predictable babble is sickening.
