NRA Director Says Five Rounds is Enough
JEWS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF FIREARMS OWNERSHIP ^ | September 6, 2007 | The Liberty Crew

That JPFO and the NRA have different views on "gun control" is no secret; you can read our position -- and view supporting evidence -- at http://www.jpfo.org/alert20061211.htm . You can also read an article on the NRA's recent alignment with gun-prohibitionist Carolyn McCarthy at http://www.jpfo.org/smith-nra.htm .

And now, NRA Director Joaquin Jackson has publically stated that magazine capacities should be limited to five rounds and that "assault weapons [sic] should be limited to military or police." That's right -- a director of the supposedly pro-gun NRA wants to take YOUR semi-automatic rifles away.

Don't believe us? Think it's just a rumor? View the evidence for yourself at http://www.klru.org/texasmonthlytalks/archives/movies/jackson5_44k.mov (we also have it mirrored on the JPFO site at http://www.jpfo.org/joaquin.mov ).

Already the NRA apologists are coming out of the woodwork. Anyone who points out the hypocrisy of Jackson's position are denounced as "wackos", "black helicopter paranoids," and "just trying to make a buck."

It's time to "Humiliate and Repudiate" Joaquin Jackson and the NRA. Go to http://www.jpfo.org/handbill-joaquin.jpg to see our latest handbill. Print it out and distribute it to those who still believe the NRA is working in the interest of gun owners. They are not.

If you value the truth more than betrayal and want an aggressive defense of your natural and Second Amendment rights, visit http://www.jpfo.org/member.htm to learn how you can join JPFO. We encourage you to use our "gun control" destroying books and videos ( http://shop.jpfo.org ) and get on board with us today.

"Did you see the video or read the transcript ...The discussion was not about hunting.

I saw the video and I'll grab the transcript. The discussion of the gun in question was in the setting of hunting. In particular he starts out to explain his 5 round limit to these "assault weapons" (full auto accoridng to his "explain")... "if you're a hunter. If your a hunter. One round ought to be enough." Then he goes on to say 5 ought to be the limit. So, I think the famous Ranger is a liar. If TX prohibits full auto deer hunting, then that would be icing on the cake.

I believe it is the Second Amendment that ensures all of our other rights handed down by our Founding Fathers.

I could go all through this piece of CYA krap(tm) line by line, but picking just one point of his that shows his sheer stupidity and ignorance, it's the above.

He obviously doesn't understand the Constitution and the BOR, or otherwise he would know that those rights enumerated by the BOR are not "handed down" by either our Founding Fathers or the government. These are God given rights that all men have, that are infringed by the government or others.

If he spent 39 years as a law enforcement officer and is on the Board of the NRA, then he sure doesn't understand either his oath to uphold the Constitution or the reasons and beliefs behind that document. If he doesn't understand such an elementary principle, he doesn't deserve a place on the Board of the NRA. This is exactly why I have not and will not "join" the NRA. They don't represent either my views or those of the Constitution.

Joaquin Jackson is a good man.
He was an outstanding Texas Ranger and he has been an asset as a member of the Board of Directors of NRA,
but such elitist bigotry is completely out of line for an NRA Director.

Jim Zumbo made his unfortunate comments out of ignorance.

There can be no doubt that Ranger Jackson is intimately familiar with the form and function
of military style weapons. While his initial comment could have been an expression of his opinions on "fair chase" rules for hunting,
his subsequent comments make it crystal clear that he is referring to all military-style firearms in civilian hands.
I know, like, and respect Joaquin Jackson and appreciate his service to my native state of Texas and to the NRA,
but this betrayal of the principles of the Second Amendment and the policies and positions of the NRA and the Board of Directors is inexcusable.
Ranger Jackson needs to immediately resign his seat on the Board of Directors and recant his statements about "assault weapons."

Ranger Jackson's contact information, along with contact information for the rest of the Officers and Directors of NRA
can be found in the current (September) issue of NRA's magazines.
The Board will be meeting in their regular quarterly meeting in mid September.

“Sounds like the NRA is getting ready to endorse Rudy or Mitt to me.”

I’ll wager Mitt, since Mitt toured the Shot Show with NRA brass, and NRA defends his permanent assault weapons ban in MA (It did not make the ban permanent! The ban was already permanent! Mitt successfully negotiated the deal so that the License to Own a Gun was to be wallet sized, and when the cops confiscate your guns, you MUST now get a receipt...)

"This buffoon is another Zumbo."

Zumbo came to see the light and apologized for what he did. This famous TX Ranger lied about what he did, and blamed the viewer/reader as being to stupid to know what he was really talking about. He also blamed the "media" for cutting him off short. It clear that he was not cut off and his "explain" was a flat out lie.

Did you see #79 or was it 74, a rather scathing indictment about the NRA being for collectors and competitors only.

I may be wrong but I believe Jackson is an ex- Texas Ranger who has a strange fetish for Mexicans.

If its the same guy who wrote a book about his life as a Ranger there is cause for concern. He tries to explain away the killing and injuring of three white American rafting in Mexico by Mexican-Indian teens. They were smoking dope and drinking while camping and came across the rafters and started sniping them from a cliff. I believe they killed the two males and the female escaped wounded. Its been a while since I read it so its a little fuzzy. I will google the name and see if I can come up with the book title so people can read for themselves.

I read this book before the amnesty bill and before these remarks for sure. I was hoping for a rip roaring book of adventures from an ex Texas Ranger. I just remember thinking "Jeeze this guy has a romantic old west infatuation with Mexicans and even the criminal element in Mexico. I am not saying he is not tough or crooked or anything but if these two guys are the same, the guy needs to be fired.

"... What is so special about their process that it must remain sacrosanct? "

So that the politicians in Washington who seek an favorable rating at election time from the NRA know that the NRA has a real process that's grounded in a legitimate and coherent manner rather than just doing the bidding of a seething flighty mob of loudmouth pitchfork wavers.

I think it's necessary to keep firearms owners together in the best possible manner so that we can consolidate political power: For years we've been talking about how the liberals will 'divide and conquer' the RKBA by going after our different elements: First the NFA owners, then handguns, then the semi-automatics, then all centerfire rifles, then when only the Fudds are left, the last duck guns.

What you propose to do is the anti-gunners work for them by secularizing each segment of firearms ownership by kicking out someone that doesn't follow your doctrine. Your idea weakens the movement. I propose that we address the problem by convincing others that we're all in it together. We must hang together or surely hang separately.

That's why the NRA has elections rather than just appointing bishops and cardinals.

If you don't believe this, go start a new organization called 'Red-Blooded Americans For Assault Weapons and High Capacity Drum Magazines, Incorporated' and see how successful you are at it. Can you name two congress-critters who would seek your endorsement?

Put down the pitchforks and torches and work within the established system. Otherwise, you might as well stay true to your uninfringed Constitutional beliefs and just illegally convert your semi-autos to unregistered machine guns, build homemade suppressors, and bury them all in a cosmoline-filled drum out on Federal land marked with GPS coordinates.

I checked and its the same guy. Now just because he has a romantic infatuation with old west Mexico doesn't mean he should be fired, but these remarks along with some of his remarks in the book are something to be wary of.

that said, this guy has done more in his life than me for sure and is a tough sob who has proved himself. I just remember that book and how he tried to explain away the cold blooded murder of Americans by Mexicans> There is more in the book called One Ranger. I would love to hear someone elses take on that book.

"The discussion of the gun in question was in the setting of hunting."

His statement was to the moderator's statement/question (after discussing his status as a NRA board member) "Of course a lot of law enforcement are concerned about things like assault weapons which they feel like don't really contribute to the keeping of the peace." Nothing about hunting, he is the one that talks about hunting in his reply to that statement/question.

Then they start discussing "assault weapons".

They have already endorsed an anti-gun candidate (a Governor I think).

how in hell did this tool end up at the NRA

I've been concerned about the NRA for some time. When the NRA board of directors has a Grover Norquist (open border/Muslim promoter) setting policy for the NRA, you know they're going to the 'squishy middle'.

http://towncriernews.blogspot.com/2005/12/what-has-nra-got-to-do-with.html

What has the NRA got to do with Immigration and terrorism?

Grover Norquist: "I started out as a right-winger, and when I retire I want to be a squishy middle-of-the-roader," he jokes, chortling at the thought.

You are correct - they endorsed anti-gun Tom Ridge in PA.

It does now.

Any gun organization in the millions and with about seventy some on the board are bound to have a couple who don’t understand the agenda.

I will never vote for this guy and I wouldn’t mind if he was kicked out of the association.
