President Bush arrived in Sydney, Australia yesterday to attend the annual Asian-Pacific Economic Conference (APEC). Today he met again with his friend and ally Australian Prime Minister John Howard as they toured Sydney Harbor.
The two leaders then met with Australian troops on Garden Island Naval Base where they joined them for lunch. President Bush personally thanked the troops for their continued service in the War on Terror. (Transcript)
Deputy Press Secretary Dana Perino: [The president] said he was very proud to be with them, they're very courageous. And one of the things I overheard him say to some of the troops I was sitting with is that our military is very proud to serve along with them (Transcript)
Prime Minister Howard and President Bush held a press conference this afternoon at the Intercontinental Hotel in Sydney. Afterwards, they formally signed a defense trade agreement and then joined each other again for dinner.
Back in the States, First Lady Laura Bush held a roundtable with the press at the White House, discussing the situation in Myanmar (Burma). The Bush Administration condemns the countrys recent crackdown on pro-democracy activists and the president is expected to speak about the matter during APEC.
President Bush: "It's inexcusable that we've got this kind of tyrannical behavior in Asia. It's inexcusable that people who march for freedom are then treated by a repressive state And those of us who live in comfort of a free society need to speak out about these kind of human rights abuses." Hi, Star! I’m doing well—a little sleepy now, lol. How are you?
Tryin’ to hang in there. It’s weird to not be working. Working on a couple things.
I’m gonna watch Fred on Leno .. can’t miss the opening salvo after all this time .. ;)
You’re the best! Thank you again, my FRiend.
Thank-you so very much for the ping! The photos are wonderful :)
I found myself in the hospital overnight (I’m alright) over the holiday. My roommate was not doing so well - the hospice folks came in, her loved ones were making what certainly appeared to be last visits, she wasn’t eating, etc.
If those who are so inclined would send up some prayer for this lady, Virginia, so that she may be healed quickly, if she is to be healed, and if not, that she and her family go through this trial with grace and love.
Good evening, Jonny. Thank you SO much for all the great photos from Australia. I even love the Aussie flags. :)
Beautiful photos of Sidney Harbor. We know our GWB loves boating, so I’m sure that was a real treat for him. I love the photo of the two leaders conferring with their heads close together. The two men have become good friends.
Purple, the koala is SO adorable. :)
Oh my, if Rudy is the republican nominee...who then will you vote for? hildabeast?
Oh, how sad. Prayers for Virginia’s healing. Has she been ill long? Hospice sounds critical.
I don't know; my eavesdropping skills need improvement. It does seem that they moved her from one facility, maybe a nursing home, to the hospital, so maybe she's been incapacitated for awhile.
My stepfather was able to do 'hospice at home' with lung cancer, but I guess it depends on what you have and who's able/willing to take care of you.
Ooh .. now I’m confused. She is your roommate .. living with you?
Look like sit down between Dubya and PM Howard like they do in Godfather movie
Dubya point out see that how big Hillary butt is
Look like Dubya waiting in life get shrimp on the barbie LOL!

Prayers up for Virginia and her family.
Good morning! Great photos, especially the photo of the day. It seems the president enjoys his trip to Australia. I bet though he wished the First Lady were with him
Great report
I just want to warn you that referring to Jonny as a "Legand" may go to his head, or at the least make him blush bright red! ;o)
But you are absolutely right!
he is sterling! :o)
