Sen. Larry Craig (R) opened the possibility of reversing his stated intention to resign from the Senate on Sept. 30 in a voice mail message obtained by Roll Call that the Idaho conservative inadvertently left at a wrong number. Wrong number? Come on! This is BS!

A couple of blue chip attorneys could have done enough arm twisting to get the case dropped
without going to trial.
On the surface, the charges do seem somewhat tenuous. It's a matter of the word of a Senior Senator against a cop in a stall. No recordings, audio or visual of the incident. No words were exchanged. Craig's legal team could have damn well argued that it was simply incidental contact. It's just too frickin' late now. Like I said, the Governor has already picked his replacement. Trying to go back now simply embarrasses everyone.
We oughta get rid of Specter as well. He really enjoys undermining the GOP.

Don’t take this wrong.
He is either:
1) A Moron
2) A Bathroom Stall Trolling Closeted Homosexual
Either way, the adios is welcome, especially given his pro amnesty stance. We don’t need hypocrites or idiots representing us. He is one or the other. Given his Amnesty stance, possibly both.

I find it interesting that we freepers spent eons on threads ranting about BOR’s opinion of us only to engage in the behavior found on this thread.

How does one resign from being a toilet trolling pervert?I dunno, TTP Anonymous meetings? 12 Step Program? It's a good thing the GOP just washed their hands of this whole mess.

BOR hit FR because of his proclivities. What skeletons does he have today.
What you are missing is that what ticks the gays off is what ticks us off as well. If he is closeted, sorry, but it makes him a liar. I don’t think traditional marriage should be extended to them, and I tell them. We agree to disagree, and I will show up at their commitment ceremony. No hypocrisies there.
BOR on the other hand, smells of week old fish.

We are trying to have a serious discussion. Anybody who takes it out of context needs to get their mind out of the gutter. It's their problem not mine.
I think the behavior of FReepers has been admirable and quite understanding and libertarian.
I can summarize the general consensus thusly: Nobody gives a crap what Larry Craig and a consenting adult water buffalo do in the privacy of their own bathroom...just don't do it in a public bathroom.

Now that you mention it, it wouldn't surprise me. I can't fathom why Specter would attempt to talk Craig into staying after he held the big press conference announcing his intent to resign. The Governor has picked the replacement. There is simply no point in trying to reverse the process at this stage of the game. Craig would have absolutely ZERO credibility left. And the GOP's credibility would suffer as well.
Trying to fight this mess would simply mean delving deeper into the lurid details of Craigs personal life, and keeping this scandal on page one day after day. "Is he (gay)... or isn't he...?". The GOP needs that like they need Mark Foley running for re-election.
Good Lord, just let sleeping dogs lie.
