From what I read the Hotpass coverage is the best....of course, now that I’m not in the boondocks anymore and don’t have DirectTV and can’t attach it here that would be the best one. Darn.
Of course Jr threw their interviewer a little barb during a caution interview. They said something to the effect that he was driving like a man possessed and looked really good out there “tonight”. He retorts with “well if you had been watching me my whole career you would know I always drive that way” LOL

Thanks for being a standup guy Jr...
Dale, Jr.
“I’m going to work really, really hard with my guys,” he said. “I promised them that these last several races through the last half of the season that no matter Chase or not, we owed it to ourselves to race hard and work really hard. It would be foolish and uncharacteristic of my team to kind of skip along and ride it out. No matter what the results are, I want my guys to feel when we turn the last lap at Homestead that we worked hard and we had great integrity.”
As most of them do. I think we let the media inject too much BS into Nascar. Seems most of it lately is pure hype, trying to create something out of nothing and conflicts where they don’t really exist.
“Why did Jr’s engine fail?”
Answer: Evil stepmother.
LOL Strippers and brake fans?? I missed that while rebooting the computer.
Best Radio Chatter:
Dale Jr. climbed into the Bud/Elvis special before the race while it was parked alongside a pit box that was being sprayed with a strange fruity-smelling liquid of some sort. (Teams spray all kinds of concoctions on the pavement inside their pit box to make the maximum traction for the cars and the crew members as they service the car...)
Dale Jr: What did you guys put in here?!? It smells like a stripper...
Dale Jr. struggled with the car in the early going, but really lit up when the handling improved. The race was red-flagged twice to clean the track following multi-car accidents, and Junior discussed his car during the first red flag on lap 244 while sitting in second place to Jeff Gordon.
Dale Jr: (to the crew): I need a lil bit more racecar and I can win.
Tony Eury Jr: 10-4. Well work on it for you.
Jeff Hammond (on the team radio while announcing for DirecTV Hot Pass): Junior, I dont know if Ive seen you drive this hard before.... How will you get by the 24 car (J. Gordon)?
Dale Jr. : (joking - perhaps) You should have been watching my whole career. Ive always driven hard! Were gonna keep on tryin, and were so close to havin a car that can win. If I get by the 24, we can stay there. Well run away with it and we wont have to worry about that...
The car was fast, but vibrated badly under heavy braking. To try to help the situation, the team would remind Junior to turn off the brake fans during caution periods and then back on before going green...
Eury Jr: Stayin out.
Dale Jr: Yes, sir.
Eury Jr: Brake fans off, Dale Jr..
Dale Jr: I can remember that but I forget to turn em back on if you dont remind me. We need to look into that though. I dont think thats what the problem is.
Eury Jr.: Yeah, youve been hard on em (brakes) all night. All four rotors were glowing red early on.
Dale Jr: (surprised/alarmed) Why didnt ya tell me that?!?!
Eury Jr: Because you were doin good. And the last time I seen that with you, you went out and beat Mark Martin and won the Busch race (in 1999).
Captain you asked last night if we had any questions, I was too drained to think about it.
I heard the crowd booed Mark Martin, is that true?
Also heard the speedy dry was blowing up into the stands.
Tell us the highlights of what you saw. :)

Wow..... Too bad they limit characters in their e-mail note or I would send that to them.
It gets worse every year.
That was interesting, they pretty much mirrored our comments last night. Thanks.
Here’s one....
“Oh yeah, one more thing. I can’t stand to hear or see the word “aero” ever again. I have destroyed all my AEROsmith discs, I will never shop at AEROpostale, and I will never again speak of the AEROspace industry.”
LOL
How do I coin (aka copyright) the phrase,
"I can't wait until 20081"
Speedy dry was put down from the finish line to the middle of the backstretch after Andretti [I think] blowed up. The jet blowers were up against the wall and blew it into the race cars, the grass and the pit stalls. It was like a sand storm. I did not see any going into the stands at all. I might have missed that though.
The crowd loudly cheered Montoya’s car being towed around turns 3 and 4 to the garage after the fire. It was pretty embarrassing. I know this because I was walking around the track on the “boardwalk” during this time and was between 3 and 4 when the car when by. [I was right where the accident happened on the front stretch when it happened, too. Was surrounded in the smoke. Man does it smell good.] My son asked “why do they hate Montoya so much?” I said, “because he drives just like Dale Sr. did!”
Jimmy J is not the most popular driver, but the fans cheered his victory lap and burnouts, just like they did at the spring race.
We saw some of RaceDay at the Speed stage. It was so hot. And there was no sunshade for the TV people. J. Spencer was smoking a big cigar when not on camera. K. Wallace is truly nuts, but somehow manages to hold it all together. John Roberts has a very tough job keeping things on track and with no Teleprompter.
This race sold out with two days to go. Last year, it sold out with 3 weeks to go. The market is soft. ISC will not be expanding our new balcony any time soon. With expansion, Richmond could seat 150,000, but for some reason, there just is not a demand for that many tickets.
The racin at the end with Stuart, Johnson, Jr was some of the best I have ever seen. And Ragan thrilled the fans too. At first we though he wrecked Jr. and that he would be the new “hated one.” But when Jr. did not come down pit road but when straight to the garage, we realized quickly that it was another blown engine.
The person giving the pledge of allegiance had a bit of nerves and forgot the words part way through.
Other boos were for JPM, Kurt and Shrub.
I have to disagree with "why do they hate Montoya so much? I said, because he drives just like Dale Sr. did!
JPM is a real hothead and an inexperienced driver in Nascar. He's getting better but needs to learn the ropes if he would just let his stubborness go. He's too cocky. Dale Sr "moved" people out of the way on purpose. He was driven to win and for the most part used his intimidator image to scare people into moving, if they didn't he gave them the bumper and depending on the skill of that driver or the kind of bump they got some wrecked.
Dale had his share of boos for awhile until the fans began to like his success and his character as a man off the track.
Same here... Juan Problem is more like Crash Gordon than big E.
Congrats on high score!
I should hae added Dale Sr never accidentally wrecked someone.
Oh, and our new Nascar driver Dario [needs a nickname - not Ashley’s husband] just won in Chicago. He’s Scottish right?
AND that was a championship win and ABC goes to commercial albeit side by side but sheesh anyway.
LOL Dixon ran out of fuel feet from the finish, the interviwer “how does it feel” DUH
