Al Qaedastan is a interesting work of fiction. I'm not too sure we will have to wait until 2016 for it to become nonfiction, unfortunately.
Excellent.
Thank YOU nw.

TERRORISM MONITOR
“An Inside Look at France’s Mosque Surveillance Program”
By Pascale Combelles Siegel
(August 16, 2007)
While on this subject of Al Qaedestan (incidently, ‘qaedeh” aptly means “menstrual” or “menstruated” in Persian) we appear to have finally put together a more recent plan and also some resolve to carry it out. Short piece on AntiMullah with a Diogenes graphic.

Highway 101 in California can’t catch a break. Tonight there’s a big fire north of Santa Barbara that’s closing it northbound (101@Arroyo Hondo Preserve). Further south, the 101 at Topanga Cyn offramp (Los Angeles area) has a hillside on fire due to the explosion of a big rig. Site says traffic is backed up to Las Virgenes but I don’t know how far that is. (Sounds far.)
The 14 freeway has had several incidents all weekend, including the North Fire screwing up traffic. (Agua Dulce/Acton/Santa Clarita - 600 acres - 20% contained). The smoke from that one is blackening my skies. Also, SR14 was under water up north of Mohave this afternoon due to t-storm downpour.
The 15 freeway was closed for awhile this afternoon in Barstow due to a terrible accident (rollover in the median I think it was). There have been other incidents reported there as well.
To sum up: CHP is out earning its pay this weekend. Beats having them harrass innocent people for driving faster than the sign said was allowed, but a tough row for anybody who needed to get anywhere in southern CA this weekend.
Thank you very much, Ian.
This should be a very important thread.
Here’s praying we make it through to Ocotber’s thread without incident.
Interesting events in Germany. Especially following all the online noise of the
past three years.

“September is National Preparedness Month. Here is your daily safety tip.”

Note: The following text is a quote:
http://www.wmata.com/nat_prepare_tips/index.cfm?t=1
September is National Preparedness Month. Here is your daily safety tip.
September is designated as National Preparedness Month. Following is your daily tip to help make sure you are prepared:
9/1/07 :: Report people activities and things that are out-of-place or out of the ordinary to Metro Transit Police at 202-962-2121 or inform a Metro employee.
9/2/07 :: Do you have a 3-day home preparedness kit? Visit www.ready.gov for more information.
9/3/07 :: Emergency intercoms are located on the either end of Metro rail cars. Use them to report suspicious people, unusual activities or unattended items to the train operator.
9/4/07 :: Have you read the emergency evacuation poster located next to the center doors in a rail car?
9/5/07 :: Please dont block the doors from closing or letting passengers on and off the train.
9/6/07 :: Familiarize yourself with all the entrances to the rail station that you frequently use in case you ever have to take a different exit.
9/7/07 :: Check out the emergency intercoms on specially marked pylons in rail stations.
9/8/07 :: Emergency exit procedures are listed on windows, ceiling escape hatches and on doors of Metrobuses.
9/9/07 :: See it, Say it. If you see someone leave a package, politely bring it to their attention. If you see an unattended package or witness anything unusual, tell a Metro employee or call 202-962-2121.
9/10/07 :: “Shelter in place” means to remain in your work place or home.
9/11/07 :: Check with your childs school to determine its plan of action and what you should do it an emergency occurs.
9/12/07 :: If theres a fire on a Metrobus, the driver is the first person responsible for putting it out. But if the driver is unable to, the fire extinguishers are behind or under the drivers seat.
9/13/07 :: Dont run for the bus. Thats when most accidents happen.
9/14/07 :: If you have to cross the street after getting off a bus, wait until the bus has pulled away from the bus stop.
9/15/07 :: Listen for station announcements and follow instructions quickly and calmly during an emergency.
9/16/07 :: If theres an emergency on Metrorail, consider the bus, or vice versa. If neither is possible, use cabs or walk.
9/17/07 :: Do you have another way to get home if one or more rail stations are closed? Check out our Metrorail Alternate Route Planning Guide
9/18/07 :: Have you signed up for e-alerts? Messages about rail service disruptions and delays are sent to cell phones, computers and other electronic wireless devices. Click here to sign up.
9/19/07 :: Do you have an emergency plan mapped out? A personal preparedness plan can be found here. Fill it out, discuss it with your loved ones and make sure everyone has a copy. Then, carry your plan with you wherever you go.
9/20/07 :: In an emergency, it may be easier to call long distance as local phone lines may become overloaded. Designate an out-of-state friend or family member to be the contact point for your family.
9/21/07 :: Identify a location outside your neighborhood where your family can meet if you cant return to your home.
9/22/07 :: Keep a local map with you in case you need to walk or take another form of transportation.
9/23/07 :: Make sure people close to you know how to reach you and vice versa.
9/24/07 :: If a train stops, follow the operators instructions quickly and calmly.
9/25/07 :: Ask your employer if there is an emergency plan for your workplace and incorporate it into your personal plan.
9/26/07 :: Have you recently reviewed, updated and practice your preparedness plans? A form can be found here.
9/27/07 :: Do you have an emergency supply kit at your workplace? Click here for more information.
9/28/07 :: Fire extinguishers are located in the train operator’s cab, and they are also often available under the last row of seats at the end of the car.
9/29/07 :: You can help prepare your community by joining the Citizen Corps, which helps people prepare, train and volunteer in their communities during emergencies. Click here for more information.
9/30/07 :: During an emergency, listen to train and station announcements, tune into local TV or radio broadcasts, or check our website.
Back to today’s tip.
