McLean, VA On September 6, 2007, Fred Thompson will be announcing his intention to run for President of the United States with a webcast available to millions at www.imwithfred.com. The launch of the video will be followed by a five-day campaign tour through Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.
I believe that there are millions of Americans who know that our security and prosperity are at risk if we dont address the challenges of our time; the global threat of terrorism; taxes and spending that will bankrupt future generations, and a government that cant seem to get the most basic responsibilities right for its citizens, stated Fred Thompson.
The response that weve received makes me confident that we have an opportunity to change politics in Washington and across the country, and take on these challenges the way every generation of Americans has faced the challenges of their time with unity, hard work and a belief that we will come out on the winning side, continued Thompson.
We enter this campaign in a strong position, said committee manager Bill Lacy. Fred is consistently near the top in the polls, and conservatives across the country have put together the closest thing to a draft in recent presidential campaign history in an effort to bring about this day. The next few weeks will only serve to build upon those efforts, with house parties nationwide on the 6th, and visits to the early primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, quickly followed by stops in Florida and a homecoming in Lawrenceburg, TN on the 15th.
By announcing via webcast, Fred is able to take his consistently mainstream conservative message directly to the voters, who are already responding to that message with a strong upwelling of grassroots support. The webcast and the following campaign tour will play to Freds strengths, a consistent record of conservatism, his ability to clearly spread his message, and his ability to work with and connect with Americans from all walks of life, said Lacy.
The committee will file our formal paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission within 15 days, the time allowed by law after Fred decided to run. Additionally, we will begin to consider candidate based events following Freds broadcast on September 6, 2007.

Funny, Hannity loves Fred almost as much as Rudy.
Obfuscation is the muddler's only means of compensating for a flat-lined campaign.
Fantastic.
The following polling data is for the month of Aug. comparing Thompson to Hunter. Neither candidate is setting the public on fire but Thompson hasn't been in the race doing actual campaign work/events/etc.
The first caususes and primaries are less than five months away. Super Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 is just a week over five months away. Any candidate that can't increase his polling numbers rapidly won't be the nominee come Sept. 1, 2008.

Another wild eyed fabrication. You’ve really lost it! LMBO
Hannity has been a longtime shill for Rooty.
And you’re the chief anti-Fredhead on FR.

I'd still like to see Fred take Hunter as his VP. What do you think the chances are of Hunter going for that?
**************
Uh, evidently, it isn't.
The biggest magnet is knowing the chances of being found and deported are slim. If our policy is to deport immediately, family and all, upon discovery, then self deportation will commence as well. You give Bush/Huckabee/Fred nonsense about aspirations for citizenship and you’ve just killed the incentive to leave.
If you do not have an extremely robust deportation policy, people will continue to pay illegals under the table like millions are today.
And as far as the border goes, Fred is even unsure about the need for a physical fence. He leans towards the Rudy high tech version. These people are not going to give a rip if they appear on camera (with a bandana on their face) as long as there is a van on the US side to take them to a safe house.
Fred’s record is middling at best on illegal immigration and was certainly never a priority to him, despite some of his colleagues demonstrating the problem time and time again.
Well it should be. I’ve had nothing but nice things to say about Congressman Hunter (although I’ve been starkly honest about his chances, or more precisely, the lack thereof), and I find it disheartening that it’s some of the Hunter supporters who are being bigger obfuscators and crybabies than the Mittwits.

Thompson doesn't want to commit to a one-size-fits all solution? Hang 'im now!
Guess what pissant, a physical fence doesn't do any good either unless it's monitored.
Obfuscation is when you ignore a candidates track record and pretend he is a staunch conservative
He’s a good man and a patriot. He’s a former military man. He’s firmly behind a border fence. He’s pro-life and anti-same-sex marriage.

I couldn't agree more, except that you neglected to mention the Giuliani and Paull supporters. :)
It wasn't neglect. They're just not worth mentioning.
Obfuscate? I asked you to point me to a single thing Fred said or a single Amendment or bill Fred offered during his Senate career that addressed the problem of the illegal invasion.
:)
Go back and look at Hannity’s interviews with Fred. He’s fully capable of shilling for a lib AND a moderate.
Great link ~ if we could just get Arnold to go for it.
Arizona PROVES that enforcing the law, as Fred says, WORKS.
