Anyone who follows the MSM knows that Cuba is a virtual paradise. A land of free health care, universal literacy and low infant-mortality rates where kids don't care about freedom and the only big problems are those caused by the U.S. Yes, Cuba is the sort of place no one would ever want to leave. Certainly not to go to live in the United States, where, as everyone knows thanks to Michael Moore's "Sicko," health care is so bad that 9-11 heroes are forced to seek help from Havana.
And yet . . .
According to AP: Defection fears to keep Cuban boxers at home
Cuba won't send a boxing team to the world championships in Chicago, heeding Fidel Castro's fears about future defections after two fighters abandoned their teammates during the Pan American Games.
"We will not expose anew a Cuban boxing team to the abuses and provocations that in this case will be present in Chicago, American territory, the perfect location for marketers and traffickers to act freely and with the total complicity of U.S. authorities," the Cuban Boxing Federation said Wednesday."Abuses and provocations." Commie-speak for the lure of freedom and opportunity.
I-thought-Cuba-was-paradise ping to Today show list.
Fear of defecations? How about sending shorts, then? :-P
Hey what’s wrong with Cuba? Why would they want to defect?
All right; I must have underwear on the brain today. I thought for a minute the article was referring to “boxer shorts.”
**”Abuses and provocations.” Commie-speak for the lure of freedom and opportunity.**
Exactly
Ha, ha—boxer shorts were the first thing that came to my mind when I read the headline.
I thought that too.
This Cuban Boxer is from Miami and is named Pancho.
Because everyone who can run, jump, or swim, is already in the United States.
Aw come on, the MSM will ignore it!
I guess some people just hate having free, high-quality health care. ;)
I suggest a defection swap — we’ll take their boxers (and all their pro baseball players, for that matter) in exchange for Michael Moore and any other idiot with American citizenship who happens to hold Cuba and their “health care” system in high esteem. Everybody wins.
Me too!... LOL
Wrong, to be, uh, brief ;-)
Maybe this is just a cover story and they are really not coming because Cuba has a superior health care system and they don’t want the secret to get out!
I personally had a tour of the hospital in Havana, Cuba in 2000. I was with a Cuban-born, now American citizen, doctor who looked at me during the tour and said, “if I get sick while we are here, just shoot me.”
It was disgusting. Blood soaked bandages in the hallways, walls caked with grime. NO COMPUTERS - there were boxes and boxes of index cards in the registration area for patient information.
It was amazing. Completely third-world. Everytime I hear about how great their “free” medical care is, I laugh. People who say that have never, ever been in a Cuban hospital.
The level of disgusting conditions CAN NOT be covered up for anyone so if the government showed them this hospital, they could not even make it look satisfactory for the day of the tour.
Please, let’s not think of Michael Moore in boxers.
