Absolute vanity about tattoos.

Posted on 08/28/2007 9:06:17 PM PDT by ozaukeemom

Over the years, I have thought about getting a tattoo. Surprising considering my fear of needles! lol I see them everywhere on every classs of person, I see the artwork vary from onr body to another. What causes someone to decide to have a tattoo. Is it cultural? Is it a fad? I am seriously thinking about it now. Any stories, suggestions? Thank you!

Um, you do know the hand stamp would have washed off in your shower that night, yes?

I like to imagine that the Mark of the Beast is somewhat more permanent and subtle.

Did she get all eight done at once? (The roses, not the kids. I’m assuming the kids were sequential and spaced.)

“seems vaguely un-christian”

I’m not sure about whether this carries over as a rule for Christian believers, but OT Law was pretty clear:

Leviticus 19:28 - ‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.’ (NIV)

I don’t recall the NT mentioning tattoos (though I could certainly be wrong). The directive from Leviticus would have been so that God’s people keep away from pagan rituals. I would think the answer for Christians would fall along the lines of the “should we eat food offered to idols?” business that Paul wrote about. If you are firm in Christ, sure, what does it matter since those gods are nothing? If it bothers your conscience, then no way.

I don’t personally want a tattoo. I think some are repulsive and some are very nice. JMO.

You could get this one, or a similar one if this isn't your favorite Scripture.

Yes but she was carrying our 8th child at the time so we left the color off of that one and added it after he was born.

I drew hair on my back with a Sharpie.

It was cheaper, painless, and lasted almost a month.

Would you consider an FR logo somewhere on your body? Choose your art wisely.

I was wondering if y’all had planned the eight from the beginning and she got one after each birth. Now THAT would be some top-notch planning!

Yes, what you said, plus, I always think those who “overly decorate themselves” are badly in need of attention they didn’t get somewhere along the line....

I'm guessing you don't like them, but are attempting to project your own dislike onto Christ.

Attributing your own opinion to Christ seems more than vaguely un-Christian to me.

You know what you get with you Assume...

I've pondered getting one before and have friends who have em however much of the New Testament would seem to question defacing God's work.

For Instance:
1Cr 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Oh I see. Yeah that would be some amazing planning since it took us 14 years to have the 8 kids.
