“Do not post to me”
Free Republic ^ | 8/28/07 | Admin Moderator

Posted on 08/28/2007 5:47:37 PM PDT by Admin Moderator

We've received many requests from freepers requesting that other freepers not post to them. There are several problems with this.

1. It's impossible for us to enforce.
2. We don't have the time to enforce these requests.
3. We don't have the software to keep track of these requests.
4. Thick skin helps.
5. Ignore the poster, if you don't reply, they won't reply.

Free Republic does not need a bozo filter, bozo filters are for wimps.

Final note: Trolls, troublemakers, disruptors, forum pests, malcontents, RINOs, liberals, stalkers, et al, would continue posting to (harassing) someone after being asked to stop. Conservative FReepers would not.

The problem with hanging them outside to dry is that the neighbors would be after them.

"Is his gramper okay?"

His Gramper is awesome! He drank firewater and spat incendiary epithets.

It is due to carbon offsets, can’t waste letters.

One problem with “don’t post to me” requests is when it comes from someone that abuses the request as a way to shut up valid debate. I’ve been on the receiving end of it when some crypto-leftist was faced with an unbeatable conservative point, whined “don’t post to me”, and then proceeded to continue spewing anti-constitutional tripe.

Indeed: the best implementation of “don’t post to me” is don’t respond to them.

"... but I still got tired of digging post holes ..."

I know what you mean. That rocky hard ground in Pennsylvania had me ready to "go posthole."

Hi, Rosie! How have you been?

I helped dig a couple of post holes when I was 12, and I did it unaided. As hard as it was for me, I think it was equally hard on the bigger kids who were already in their teens.

It was (is) a farming community, so folks work hard for the money.

Wow. Maybe I shouldn’t have thrown those boxes of carbon offsets out...?

"It is due to carbon offsets, can’t waste letters."

So if you use carbon paper, are you making a bigger carbon footprint, or sequestering carbon?

At least the rocks here are mostly round and not much bigger than your head. I pulled up a LOT of rocks, but usually was able to work them out of the ground.

Dunno that that’s as possible in Northern VT/NH where I’m from - in some areas you dig down a short distance and hit solid granite.

I did at least some of the holes on my own, but fortunately had a lot of help with pulling fence.

I was very, very sore for awhile. Hard on the shoulders and back, it is! And I’m a computer nerd...I don’t use those muscles very often. ;-)

"The problem with hanging them outside to dry is that the neighbors would be after them."

That's true, but the really sad aspect is that my neighbors are squirrels.

Well, that just proves you have nutty neighbors.

I’ve lifted hay bales, and for a while I was good at it, even as a kid. I don’t think I could do it these days.

I need to get back on the Gazelle and get some miles under my feet, for sure! Geeking is not all that healthy!

Maybe I’ll get LOTR on CD and listen to it as I work out...

I bike commute for now - 12.5 miles each way when I do it. Helps with cardiovascular health and my legs, but I’m still a weakling otherwise. ;-)

Twelve miles one way? Yay, you!

I used to bike every day for four miles. I figured that was long enough in Las Vegas traffic!

Now, of course, that’s out of the question.

I thought it was humorous ~ but the "don't post to me" crowd know who they are and I'm sure they saw it as a real problem ~ which is their problem.

I don't care whether or not someone else wants me to post to a bulletin board ~ and it causes me no loss of sleep.

It's best if you don't let anyone step on your tongue.
