U.S. most armed country with 90 guns per 100 people
By Laura MacInnis 28 minutes ago
The United States has 90 guns for every 100 citizens, making it the most heavily armed society in the world, a report released on Tuesday said.
U.S. citizens own 270 million of the world's 875 million known firearms, according to the Small Arms Survey 2007 by the Geneva-based Graduate Institute of International Studies.
About 4.5 million of the 8 million new guns manufactured worldwide each year are purchased in the United States, it said.
"There is roughly one firearm for every seven people worldwide. Without the United States, though, this drops to about one firearm per 10 people," it said.
India had the world's second-largest civilian gun arsenal, with an estimated 46 million firearms outside law enforcement and the military, though this represented just four guns per 100 people there. China, ranked third with 40 million privately held guns, had 3 firearms per 100 people.
Germany, France, Pakistan, Mexico, Brazil and Russia were next in the ranking of country's overall civilian gun arsenals.
On a per-capita basis, Yemen had the second most heavily armed citizenry behind the United States, with 61 guns per 100 people, followed by Finland with 56, Switzerland with 46, Iraq with 39 and Serbia with 38.

Grandpa's as well. I have my gramps old 16 gauge. My dad shot his first pheasant with it.
In your face rest of the world. We’re number one again! USA! USA!
You like that clear mag?
300Win,
That has the 16.5 barrel doesn’t it?
Why do they say it must be registered as a handgun?
PS is on my list, but I haven’t even got to shoot one yet. :(
Next though is a Winchester M1 Carbine from CMP. They go on sale in January. You can get one mfg’d by Inland now (for less) but I want the Winnie.
Yeah, it's a good magazine. The one in the picture is an airsoft dummy mag that I modified for display purposes. The only real problem with the 50-round mag is that it takes a lot longer to load it than to empty it.
I just can't let people think that RINO (and probably closet gun-grabber, since he's a RINO) Senator lindsey graham (RINO-SC) said this.
It was, in fact, former senator, SENATOR PHIL GRAMM (R-TX).
If it’s a left-wing think tank, then it’s probably more like 98 guns per 100 people.

Wrong! All citizens are armed, the rest are subjects.
Wrong again! The rest will be a statistic at the coroner!
OUTSTANDING!
I never thought of it that way. I'm a good, no, a GREAT Samaritan.
I like your choice!
In Michigan, the overall length is two inches too short. You're also in a legal gray area if the folding or telescoping stock on your rifle makes it under 32 inches when shortened.
It took the "shall issue" law to fix the wording in the statute that stated that a handgun could only be legally transported between home and the shooting location. Technically, it was illegal to take the handgun out of the store, or to take it to the police department for registration. The politicians admitted it was "ambiguous", but said they liked it that way.
Congrats on a M1 carbine, another fun weapon. I have only one, and that's because it's an unmodified, as-it-left-the-factory IBM carbine. "Untouched" early carbines are getting scarce. I paid $100 for it 20 years ago.
You should read the Constitution of the United States for the answer. The men that put that document together knew what they were talking about. And that is more than our present congress does.
I also run a half way house for orphaned beers, I routinely accept them, it helps get them off the street.. lol
I'm adequately armed with a .44 Mag rifle, and a .357 Mag pistol.
I'll probably buy one more handgun for my lady - .380 perhaps.
So 10 out of 100 are democrats ?
The article contradicts itself. In the title it says US has 90 per 100 people. But later on in the text, it says on a per capita basis the US 61 guns per 100 people.
What gives?
I really like 30 carbines, they just feel good and are FUN to shoot.
I have a Universal that I bought new in 74 for 135. I’m thinking of wildcatting it into either a .17 or .22.
The Winnies at CMP are going for 675 and the IBM is 575 so I envey your 100 IBM!
Heck I’ve seen the Universal sell for 350!
We're having a hellascious thunderstorm here now so I'm gonna have shut down and look for your response when I can fire this thing back up. lol
