A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day......August 27,28-07....Military Tribute
Billie, The Mayor

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I could no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I have been including them here as I receive enough to make another collage.
I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why we've created a place for just that. This is a friendly room in JimRob's house where FReeper FRiends can gather every day and just say hello if that's all they want to do.
We have featured different FReepers, with a little background information on who they are and what makes them who they are, along with a few photos you might not have seen on other threads; sometimes others write an essay for us to post as the feature for the day; sometimes our presentation is a human interest story found elsewhere that you might not have read; sometimes special holiday threads; but whatever the topic of the day, it is always with FR's Finest in mind and that is YOU!
Every Monday we post the photos of FR's Military Personnel that I have collected and put into groups; these will be available to view through a link the remainder of the week - every day just a click away. :)   If you would like to add a photo of yourself or a loved one in the military, past or present, please let me know; I will hold it until I have enough for a new group.
Thank you, and please have fun with us...every day!

Any warnings or suggestions for buying and using Vista?

Oh, no.....you need to talk to Billie! I will NOT deal with Vista until I absolutely have to and have been told that you can buy a new computer and still have XP. I have also been told that Microsoft is going to continue to support Windows XP for the next five years. If that is the case, when I am forced to get my new computer, I will insist upon XP.

Good luck, Amy. I am right behind you. My computer is on it's last leg too, I'm afraid. :-(

Visible Reminders

READ: Deuteronomy 6:1-9

These words which I command you today shall be in your heart. —Deuteronomy 6:6

A growing number of people find that wearing a pedometer helps them increase their level of daily exercise. The step-counting device is both a recorder and a motivator for them. Knowing how many steps they take encourages them to walk more.

One woman, whose goal was to take 10,000 steps a day, began parking farther away from her workplace and doing more active tasks around the office. Her awareness of the pedometer helped produce a lifestyle change.

Observable reminders have a place in our walk with Christ as well. When God instructed the Israelites to keep His commands in their hearts, He also told them to make visible reminders of the Word: “You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates” (Deut. 6:8-9). The purpose was not physical decoration but spiritual deliverance: “Beware, lest you forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage” (v.12).

Words of Scripture on a plaque, a memory card, or a calendar can turn our focus toward the Lord throughout the day. These visible reminders of Christ and His Word will encourage our steps of obedience to Him.

Putting It Into Practice
• Memorize a verse of Scripture as you go to work.
• Write a verse on a card, and tape it where it is visible.
• Meditate on that verse during the day.
Store the Bible in your heart, not on the shelf.

Thank you, jaycee. Back is still yelling at me.This too shall pass..but I will probably be reading instead of posting the rest of the day..Right now I am looking at about 35 white winged doves feeding on the patio..My lame little raccoon came back during daylight this morning for seeds..I feed him catfood at night..I thank God I have something to watch besides TV when my back hurts!

Yes..I have been shopping...probably too much shopping has added to my back fussing at me. I do love to explore on the computer

Take care....baby your back. The computer gets to mine a lot. My back hurts between shoulder blades....most back troubles are lower back. Have you tried moist heat on it? Love your little raccoon stories. Its good of you to feed it. Most people are afraid of them.
