King County flubs 400 voter registration cards

Luke Esser

BELLEVUE, Wash. – The King County Elections department made a mistake with the state Republican Party chair's voter registration card this year.

Luke Esser was one of 400 poll voters who received voter notification cards that were incorrect.

For many years, Esser voted at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Bellevue. But in July, he got a letter and a new registration card from King County Elections, notifying him that it had changed his precinct location to Ardmore Elementary School.

So on primary election day, Esser went to Ardmore Elementary, only to find his precinct did not exist.

He ended up going back to Cross of Christ church to vote and immediately sent out an e-mail to the press: "The Gang That Can’t Shoot Straight at the King County Elections Department struck again on primary election day, this time by directing the Chairman of the state’s Republican Party to the wrong polling place."

A spokeswoman from the elections department says it wasn't just Esser--some 400 poll voters got similar voter notification cards that were wrong.

"We know that five or six people ultimately voted on Tuesday and showed up at Ardmore," said Bobbie Egan. "Nobody was denied the right to vote. They were told they could vote a provision ballot or go to Cross of Christ ...When we looked up Mr. Esser, it showed that it was Cross of Christ church. So we know our database is correct, it was an issue that happened in linking them outside of the system."

The elections department says it will send out correction letters immediately. Esser will be on KING 5 News Up Front this Sunday to tell his story.

His e-mail asks, "accident or conspiracy?"

Egan says, "No conspiracy. Certainly, we regret that anybody went to the wrong place on election day."

That’s why WA state is governed by an illegal governor. This disgrace goes back to 2004.

Messing with Luke Esser -- not good (for them). Luke's a great guy, and I hope he hangs them out to dry!

I wonder if the party affiliation of the 400 was skewed? That are the odds that the flubbed cards are mostly republican? /rhetorical

I am so LUCKY to live in the great “evergreen” state....that slogan used to apply to our wonderful trees, now it applies to the fraudulent whackos in the governor’s office

Unfortunately, this minimal, bare article doesn't go into any essential details such as any which would address the very valid question that you raise.  My guess is that IF all or most of these 'errors' pertained to the specific polling places cited, the party affiliation MAY mirror the demographics of the area.  I'm guessing that Mr. Esser lives in a majority Republican area, and so it would follow (from my many guesses, if's and assumptions) that most of those affected would also be Republican.

Hopefully Mr. Esser will be able to shed more light on this issue than this poor article does when he speaks on TV this Sunday.

King County (Seattle) Washington is the newer version of the old Cook County (Chicago) Illinois...We elected our current governor by recounting the votes (3 or 4 times) until the Democrat won.

I'm very sorry to hear that; you have my sincere sympathies.

I find it instructive to note that so very many (most?) super-close elections in recent years have ultimately been decided for the Dems, reinforcing the feeling among many that the only way that they can 'win' elections anymore is via vote fraud.

Thankfully, there was at least one major recent exception to that dark trend, despite an all-out effort by the Left.

In my work to preserve the Eastside Rail Line as a functioning rail line, one of my allies is a "Scoop Jackson" Democrat who recently lost the primary in his race for Seattle City Council. He was the one who took me to the Bill Richardson event that prompted Bill and Publius' Excellent Adventure.

One day over dessert and port wine, he admitted that the King County Democratic machine has a well of 3000 to 4000 dead people, fictitious people and elderly, senile people whose votes it could count on in any close election. He said you needed to win by 4000 to be safe in your victory.

On the day of the primary, I encouraged him to "vote early and often".

Didn’t King County voters re-elect Ron Sims AFTER he and his cronies botched the 2004 election?

I'm guessing that Sims' constituency didn't view the 2004 election as 'botched' but as "a Peoples' and Workers' Victory against Republican / Fascist Aggression and Imperialism".

This is the same crowd that continually returns Patty "Osama builds nice roads and schools" Murray, "Baghdad Jim" McDermott and a host of other Stalinist Useful Idiots to their overpaid, safe seats in Government.

These are neighborhoods where you WILL have your tires slashed, your paint 'keyed' and at least one window broken out of your car if you dare to park it there for more than five minutes with a Republican bumper sticker on it.

Not to worry,  soon all elections here will be by mail-in ballot only, which will allow for a far more convenient and less publicly-visible mechanism for manipulating votes.

My understanding was that it was the Libertarian votes that took him out. Am I incorrect?

Just happened to hit GOPers probably. Well, they foisted a FRAUDULENT “governor” into office and are now looking for others ways to get their hands into our election.
