BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Texas Rangers rounded the bases at a dizzying pace, touching the plate so often it became almost embarrassing to make an out.
The Rangers became the first team in 110 years to score 30 runs in a game, setting an American League record Wednesday in a 30-3 rout of the Baltimore Orioles.
Trailing 3-0 in the opener of a doubleheader, Texas scored five runs in the fourth inning, nine in the sixth, 10 in the eighth and six in the ninth.
It was the ninth time a major league team scored 30 runs, the first since the Chicago Colts set the major league mark in a 36-7 rout of Louisville in a National League game on June 28, 1897, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

LOL!! That says it all! 9 games under 500 and without a single credible power hitter and some of the worst middle relief pitching ever assembled, yea right! Theyre at the top of their game, it just doesent get much better than this.. (not in Baltimore under the ownership of Asbestos Lawyer Peter Angelos, that is)
The Baltimore Ravens havent given up 30 points since November of 2005!
The funny thing is Texas did all the scoring in 4 out of 9 innings.
Well, just goes to show..Paul Shuey is no Ray Lewis!
I’m a Sox fan, but that will still never not be amusing
And the Ravens are my favorite team next to the Seahawks. It’s going to be hard watching them play each other here soon ....
Red Sox fan, heh? How did you like our bang-up job on Gagne? ;-)
Yeah, Gagne has struggled so far, but I still like our team and our chances. I think we do have a pretty fine pitching staff even if Gagne doesn’t turn it around, but there’s no reason to think he can’t do as well as he’s done elsewhere.
