Oh, be serious. If John Wayne Gacy or Charles Manson ran into a church a cried “Sanctuary!” like he was some kind of Quazimodo, you’d be fine with that?
Nawwwww. I've got broad shoulders. Send this b*tch back to HER country, Mexico.
“Maybe there should be a team of religious people that go in and interview the suspect and the church officials to determine if it is a legitimate sanctary situation. It wouldnt be hard to make up a checklist of minimum requiremets.”
You’d also have to decide what does and what doesn’t count as a church and I don’t really want the government doing that.
I continue to be astonished at the insularity of the folks in D.C. - this isn't even a partisan issue. People all across the political spectrum are screaming and the suits have got their fingers in their ears and are chanting the same old crap from the opium-smokers in the East Coast press. Infuriating.
I didn’t know she or her spokesperson said those things —thanks.
Durbin, you twerpish little fart! You are part of the problem!

They already do it. Tax purposes ya know.
“I think churches should be allowed to retain their sanctuary status”.
RETAIN their sanctuary status? Since when have they ever had a sanctuary status in the United States? This is not 12th Century Europe.
ICE should have broke down the church door, if neccessary, to get in and arrest her sorry ass and any “clergy” who harbored her as well.
I’ve never understood this church sanctuary business. I understand that the 1st Amendment guarantees free practice of religion.......but it does NOT guarantee an exemption for fugitives from justice under the guise of practicing religion.
Elvira...Elvira...My heart is on fire, for Elvira...NOT!!!
Thank you for your service as a Patriot Guard. They organized a parade and a welcome home ceremony for my nephew and two other guys from his Texas National Guard Unit when they returned from Iraq recently.
It’s a wonderful organization and provides a much needed service, especially for funerals.
Too bad it wasn’t around in the 60s.
They looked into that for hundreds of years, then about 300 years ago it was decided that the Church should not control the state. Giving the churches the right to interfere with enforcing the civil laws would mean just that.
Last night’s FoxChicago’s telephone and online poll (less than 30 minutes) about Elvira ran 91% in favor of deportation with 8000 votes.
How in the world has it come to the big bad Americans against the illegal immigrants.
The real problem, and until it is solved we will have a problem with illegal immigrants from Mexico and most of Central America.
The Problem is the whole government of Mexico is corrupt!!!!! They have as many natural resources as we do, but because of ignorance (lack of education) fear of the gangs and corruption of their government the citizens of Mexico don’t have a chance.
We have ignored the immigration laws, propped up their currency, set up millions of businesses in Mexico and given them billions of dollars in AID and has it eased the illegal immigration problem? No it is worse.
I am really tired of Mexico telling us how we should treat their citizens. Keep them home then.
I can see it now....our places of worship filled with criminals.
