HALL OF FAME #19 THE WEEKEND THREAD T.G.I.F. at the Finest |
Every Thursday at the Finest |
I always love pix too. I knew Luv & AFPhys immediately as I had seen pix prior..
They are both MUCH cuter than their pix however..
I was Looking at One of LUV W's Beautiful Tables, and Made One Similar to hers to Frame a Neat Pic I Found on the 'Net, and Asked her if I could Use it. (Thank you, LUV W!)

Great story, Dolly. Gonna pass this one on.
I've got a ship's reunion coming up in Oct in San Diego. Still haven't decided ($$$) if we're gonna go but it sure is tempting.
I hope you can make it to your reunion.! It was just a lucky time for him and his wife to be taking pictures on vacation. I have several but liked this one because you can see the helicopter at the rear..Grin.
I remember the USS BEXAR. Might have shared a pier in San Diego with her at one time. I may even have a photo (slide) tucked away among my old Navy days pics. I’ll do some checking when I get my scanner up and running again.
Serving on a Destroyer Tender, we serviced many ships of the fleet. There’s a good chance I worked on one of her piping systems when I worked in the Pipe Shop. Didn’t do any diving on any APA’s though.
Thank you, Dave..I sure remember the Bexar coming into San Diego after a long cruise..I love homecomings!
Meg, I didn’t know your grandson was in the Navy. Bet you are so proud.....but guess you worry, too. Has he had to go to Iraq? Maybe he won’t have to~~~.
D.D., my husband was wanting to go to one of his ship’s reunions so bad. That last year he was so in hopes that he would get that kidney transplant and we could go as it was going to be in Norfolk, easy enough for us to go to it. Didn’t work out as he passed away in May. However, I am still getting their mailings and just got one and they are having it in Myrtle Beach this year...that was the place he and I went every summer. We could have definitely gone to that one! And so it goes~~~~
Another note....my husband’s ship was U.S.S Norris, DDE 859. It may be in the graveyard by now but it would be interesting to know. I have a large picture of it in a frame and also a picture of it on a Christmas card. I am like Meg, the card photo is very large on my computer and I don’t have a small one of the one in the frame. My oldest son wanted the one framed and was going to get one made for the younger son but he hasn’t done that last part yet and I am going to have to get on him about that!
