Feds' Porn Ultimatum
NY Post ^ | August 19, 2007 | By JANON FISHER

Ron Jeremy, Jenna Jameson - get ready to stand and be counted.

The Department of Justice wants to come up with an official list of every porn star in America - and slap stiff penalties on producers who don't cooperate.

The new rules, proposed under the Adam Walsh Child Safety and Protection Act, would require blue-movie makers to keep photos, stage names, professional names, maiden names, aliases, nicknames and ages on file for the inspection of the department's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section.

"The identity of every performer is critical to determining and ensuring that no performer is a minor," according to the new proposal.

The adult film industry plans to challenge the new rule as a violation of the First Amendment, said Paul Cambria, a lawyer for Hustler and other adult film companies.

He sees it as a way to harass legitimate stag-film producers.

"If they can't get you for obscenity, they'll get you for violating record-keeping," he said. Such a violation would carry a five-year penalty.

The proposed rule would require porn producers to give the title of the video or magazine, or the Web address where the actor appears.

The Department of Justice has shown some sensitivity for the performers' privacy, however. All information not essential to proving their age and identity, like phone numbers and addresses, can be withheld.

Distributors of foreign pornography aren't off the hook - they must still produce a copy of the foreign actor's identification card. The department estimates that there are 500,000 Web sites, 200 DVD producers and 5,000 businesses nationwide that would be subject to the new rule.

“First we go to war to defeat the Taliban in a far-away country, then we decide to re-create it here.”

How is this like the Taliban?

“So-called moralists who parse the Constitution to fit their agenda are even worse than libs.”

So called anti-moralists who parse the Constitution to fit their agenda are worse than the libs.

This is a nation of laws. If the majority wish a law then it is not improper for them to seek the passage of that law. Provided it doesn’t violate the Constitution.

“What does this have to do with porn? It isn’t obscene. At least not according to the Supreme Court. Sometimes I think a lot of Freepers are pretty much with Muslims on how much a woman should be covered up.”

Why do the pro-porn people on FR always compare anti-porn people to Muslims and usually the Taliban? Why can’t you make a legitimate argument instead of comparing fellow Americans to murderers and rapists?

You are mistaken, but I can see how, without your ever experiencing the power of God’s Grace to transform a fallen human soul, that you would be blinded by the past she spent and fail to comprhend what are the riches of His love toward us. That you do not see a soul in growth and transformation tells me either you have not taken the time to watch for a few weeks as she has unfolded the scriptures first with herself as by God’s Spirit prompting then to the audience she is taksed with helping to perfect for Christ’s Glory not her own, OR you are so embittered by something you cannot get past that you cannot have spiritual eyes and ears to see and her what the Spirit is doing.

As a writer, Greek, Hebrew, Latin, and English are languages I use, but I am not a native speaker except in English. I also have experience with German and French. After watching and following along for weeks now, I have yet to see one full mistake in her expositions ... minor misuse of alternate meanings but no outright mistakes. What I do see and hear is a strong influence of the Holy Spirit working in and through Melissa Scott for the edifying of ‘some saints’, for God is merciful to reach for us where we are not where our fellow sojourners expect or demand that we be in the journey He authors and sanctifies. Unless you have a specific interest in the workings of Melissa Scott or the teachings she offers, you would be wise to not say haughty and denigrating things about someone with whom and for whom and by whom God’s Spirit is working a marvelous proclamation of transformation. If she is not in fact being transformed by the renewing only God’s Spirit can accomplish, the evidence will out sooner rather than later.

#####How is this like the Taliban#####

The United States was a Taliban-type theocratic despotism prior to the late 1960s/early 1970s. Abortion was banned. Homosexuals didn’t parade down the street naked. Kids weren’t taught how to commit sodomy. Porn was underground. America back then was worse than the nightmarish state envisioned in Orwell’s 1984. As recently as the 1950s, people walked around with blank stares on their faces, rarely smiling or enjoying life. Life back then was a nightmare. A horrible, ugly nightmare that stripped people of their spirit, indeed their very souls.

Even today, we celebrate men such as Washington, Madison, Lincoln, and Roosevelt without realizing that these men were TALIBAN. We glorify the writings of Europeans such as Tocqueville and Wilberforce and Burke, unable to grasp that they were TALIBAN.

Larry Flynt, Hugh Hefner, Bob Guccione, Ron Jeremy, Harry Blackmun, Ted Kennedy.....these are some of the great men who overthrew the TALIBAN that reigned in America until very recent decades.

I watch a lot of old movies. I have to force myself to watch them because they came from the TALIBAN era. Did you know that THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES doesn’t have a bit of nudity? The “F” word isn’t used even once in CASABLANCA?

And that TV from the 1950s! Jackie Gleason never once made a penis joke on THE HONEYMOONERS!

Aren’t you terrified....simply TERRIFIED....that a database tracking the ages of porn stars will lead to a revival of the frightening regime that controlled America until about 35 years or so ago?

(/sarcasm off)

Godwin's law? :)

I did make a legitimate argument. According to the Supreme Court pornography is not obscenity. My point was that these producers are covered by the first amendment because they are not making obscene films. Then I made an observation, certain Freepers seem to think that something is obscene the second they can see any more than a face and hands. It was simply shorter and more evocative to make the muslim comparison.

Very well stated. I find it amazing that folks don’t see a link between the decline of morality and all of the societal problems we now have.

“According to the Supreme Court pornography is not obscenity.”

Agreed although IMO the definition of obscenity seems to be getting diluted.

“Then I made an observation, certain Freepers seem to think that something is obscene the second they can see any more than a face and hands.”

I haven’t seen any of those. I have seen people who find scenes of graphic sex that is almost constantly thrown in front of us. Some of us get tired of the constant barrage of innuendo, language, and blatant sexual content running rampant in todays culture. Sure sex is important part of peoples lives. But there is more to life and the fixation on the base lusts of people is hurting our country.

There's no right in the Constitution to produce obscene material.

There's no right in the Constitution for practically anything!! The Constitution is nothing more than a list of limitations and powers of the federal government. That's all it was intended to be. The BOR was originally a list of the rights the citizens of the respective states had in relation to the federal government.

actually, the governments main duty is to protect the rights of it’s citizens per the Bill of Rights. Since there is a multitude of evidence that porn damages the normal man-women relationship by promoting a purely lustful state of mind and the fact that most hardened criminals and mass murderers were heavily into porn, it is totally the right of the government to protect it’s citizens from it. That’s not big govenment, the government should do only very limited things like promoting the general welfare, not providing it. Outlawing such things as murder, abortion, which is the same, porn, theft, etc...are clearly the duty of government and actually leads to much less government because it help keep people of sound mind and soul so they don’t need big government.

He’s afraid that the Feds will catch all of the Traci Lords-types that porn still uses with fake IDs.

“Next thing you’ll be telling me is that the Cuban and the wine is off-limits, too. Then I’ll really be pissed off.”

No, I won’t. As long as you aren’t operating machinery drunk, you are not in a position of harming anyone else.

HOWEVER, if you support prostitution in any way, society is gravely harmed. Prostitution is extreme self abuse on the part of the whores, and eventually destroys the customer. Instead of fulfilling their role of protector and provider for women and children, they become a reversi, an exploiter and injurerer of women and children. A nation without good men is worthless. STDs become more and more rampant, and families are destroyed. Girls/women grow up looser and looser, since their value is in nothing but there sexuality, and left prey to every perversion you could name, and with all the many ramifications thereof. There is not one good thing that comes out of whoredom, it is all bad. For everyone concerned.

ALSO, if you abuse drugs, such as, say, meth (picked because it is so popular these days) you will become a craven piece of garbage who will (eventually, not at first) do nothing but destroy others in your desire to feed your habit, until you finally drop dead, having been a leech on the world for years rather than a good productive man who would create, produce, design, help, provide.

We do not live in vacuums.

Cubans and wine are nowhere near these categories.
