actually, the governments main duty is to protect the rights of it’s citizens per the Bill of Rights. Since there is a multitude of evidence that porn damages the normal man-women relationship by promoting a purely lustful state of mind and the fact that most hardened criminals and mass murderers were heavily into porn, it is totally the right of the government to protect it’s citizens from it. That’s not big govenment, the government should do only very limited things like promoting the general welfare, not providing it. Outlawing such things as murder, abortion, which is the same, porn, theft, etc...are clearly the duty of government and actually leads to much less government because it help keep people of sound mind and soul so they don’t need big government.

The Bill of Rights is NOT a GRANT of rights. In other words, it’s not “This is it and that’s all, folks.” The BoR is a “for example” list of some areas which are totally OFF LIMITS to government, with only minor exceptions in a few cases. It is not a COMPREHENSIVE list of individual rights; it cannot and does not purport to be such. So someone has a RIGHT to perform in certain activities, provided that person is of an age to consent to do so, and NO OFFICIOUS GOVERNMENT BUSYBODY has any say in the matter, period. It would not be unreasonable for someone to come by while a movie is being shot and ascertain the ages of the performers; it is TOTALLY unreasonable and unconstitutional to demand that records be kept by the producers of such things for government slugs to go pawing through at their leisure. Nor would such a list do any good in curbing child porn, sadly, because that is already prohibited, and with good reason. Yet illicit producers still churn it out and pervs still look at it.
Since it is my considered opinion that a criminal will tell someone whatever they want to hear if it might conceivably mitigate part of their sentence, your comment about mass murderers and hardened criminals is, IMNSHO, total barbra streisand. And your conclusion is equally suspect.
