I thought I would share this neat experience that I had with my youngest son, Jared (whom many freepers are familiar with from his trips with me to Klamath, Jarbidge, the March for Liberty, the 50 Million Round March, etc.), with the Freeper community. Wonderful trip, wonderful scenery. Anyone wishing to see some of North America's most isolated, pristine, and most beautiful wilderness areas should consider this trip. But make sure you have a good four wheel drive vehicle, at least one very good spare (two is preferable) and plenty to drink and eat for your trip.

Would you please stop showing pictures of Idaho! We are moving there in two years and would like the home prices to stay within the normal range. :-)

Now the caliporniacs will invade and ruin it like they have done in Montana. But it does sound like a great drive.

Did you have cell phone coverage? If not, what emergency communications are available? Thanks for the pictures.

Those pictures are great. The scenery is stunning! We took our kids and SirKit’s brother out to Montana on vacation a few years ago. We stayed up in Big Sky Mountain Village, and went down into Bozeman and into Yellowstone on day trips. We loved the wide open spaces.

Thanks for posting this. You must be one of the people that God blessed with an eight day week! I’ll have to add this to my huge and growing list of places to go.

In a 2-wheel drive Chevy Monza, with a 7 month wife in the passenger seat, I once took the “blue road” of Grassy Ranch Rd - Ashton Flagg Rd - Jackass Flats Rd over the Continental Divide between Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks..
Started out 4 lane paved with curbs and markers.
Then it was 2 lane, paved, with curbs.
Then the curbs went away.
Then it was 1 lane paved.
Then 1 lane gravel.
Then 1 lane dirt.
Then two ruts.....
We knew we might be in trouble when the two ruts opened up into a blank meadow. With a gap in the trees at the other side as the only other way out.
Pretty soon though, two more ruts showed up.
Then a dirt road.
Then a gravel road. Then pavement again.
When we started meeting people coming the other way to cut firewood in their 4-wheel drive pickups and jeeps, we knew we were back in civilization.....
Then it
