Democratic Party refs a faction fight
Washington Times ^ | 18 August 2007 | Donald Lambro

The feud between left-wing bloggers and the centrist-leaning Democratic Leadership Council is getting hotter at a time when activists on both sides say party unity is critical to winning back the White House next year.

The groups held dueling conferences this month, and the Yearly Kos Convention clearly came out on top. It drew 1,500 liberal activists — including 500 bloggers — and a half-dozen Democratic presidential candidates, led by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. The New York Democrat has been embraced by the DLC as one of its own.

The DLC drew 350 elected officials to its conference but was snubbed by all the presidential candidates. However, Mrs. Clinton's husband, a former DLC chairman, delivered the keynote speech.

Markos Moulitsas Zuniga stepped up his war of words against the DLC this month. The founder of the Daily Kos blog and the annual Kos conference considers DLC members "Republican-lite," as opposed to true Democrats.

What's interesting here is how the angry left are not sitting on the sidelines, probably because they don't like HRC and have no problem helping the dems lose in 2008 if it means they are considered a force in the party that must be appeased.

This is smart on their part. They have emerged as a power only recently, and are not allowing themselves to be marginalized. The dems want to pat them on the heads and say "Good job, now let the grownups take over" after the angry left helped last election cycle. (IMHO their "help" was very, very minor, but the internet is the "exciting, new wave of the future," so anyone who's capitalizing on its use is considered young, hip and cutting-edge to the oldsters who created the internet ;).

I think it's a good thing that the dems have this fight. The only maverick running in 2008 is Obama, and he seems to be faltering against HRC. If the angry left can be the dems' Pat Buchanan, more power to 'em.

You think they can tell I'm smiling while I write this? :D

Seriouly folks, I left the democratic party after I realized that the communist left had started to take over the party, and that Michael Savage is right about everything and I was wrong. The left wing blogs are vehemently anti-Israel, which is rather uncomfortable for me. Liberal Jews do not realize that modern liberalism is a threat to our survival, and that Christians have teamed up with the Jews to support Israel and promote democracy for the common good.

The Daily Kos is crazy. The one thing that got me the most was a diary that compared Zionism to Hitler. The language they use is filthy, and they could care less about the troops or free speech. The left’s support of the fairness doctrine and their desire to socialize America while negotiating with terrorists is beyond me and a DANGER to this country. Most of the left’s positions from crime prevention, gun control, Illegal immigration to global warming are illogical. All I can say is that liberalism is a mental disorder.

It is our best interest that the left wing lunatics take control the democrat party, it means that the Republicans will keep the White House and take back Congress in 2008.

Agreed. And the KOS contingent isn’t going to be appeased.

Ah, the communists v. the fascists. Political opposition to the former means getting eliminated by tanks and shock troops, while the latter is elimination by Arkancide a la Vince Foster.

Who says the Democrats aren’t about choice?

This is the genius of Karl Rove.

We haven't seen anything yet. Wait until the Democrapic Convention in Denver next summer. The fur is sure to fly, or else the whole event may be pre-scripted. Either way, Americans will be laughing themselves silly at the Dems, just as they are doing now, after the most bogus congressional session anyone has seen in a long, long time.

Clowns: Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Murtha, as well as the candidates, who rushed lock stock and barrel to kow tow to the left wing of the party.

Soon these idiots will be scrambling to look more like Leiberman, but even now, it is too late.

I don’t know. Have you READ DU and KOS? It’s like Michael Moore exploded and all the pieces became bloggers.

"Look, it's the primary season, and they're only playing on half the field," he told Mr. Klein. "To win the White House, you have to play on the entire field. That's where we come in."

Oh, we get it; they're political whores during the Primary Season and then "come home to daddy" in the Fall after they've been in bed with the left-wing loonies to get the nomination.

Don’t be surprised if Joe Liebermann comes out in support of the GOP nominee for President in ‘08.

Jack Murtha bothered me ever since he falsly accused those troops...he should be censured. Pelosi lost me when she wore the headscarf in Syria. Reid lost me when he said the war is lost before Patreus did anything. Lieberman should be a republican...the left will never forgive him and they HATE his support for Israel and the war.
The only one I had respect for was Biden-his divide Iraq stratagy makes sense. He lost me when he voted against the “john doe” provision to allow people to report behavior without being sued.
All the democrats lost me when they supported Amnesty-those who didnt like the bill thought it was too harsh.

If only the mainstream american new what the Demoncats have done.

With the political coup by Kos, the megalo-maniac power-mad self-appounted ruler of the democrat party, the inmates have truly taken over the asylum.

How funny is this? We have something in common with KOS. We call the same politicians RINO’s.
