On Aug 10, FReepers from DC Chapter and beyond, together with friends, held our weekly Friday night support the troops gathering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WR) in Washington, DC.
The FReepers had to withstand sweltering humidity and heat, probably about 90 degrees as we got underway at 6:30 pm, albeit nothing compared to the 140 degrees that our troops in Iraq must put up with. We had a black cat attack as will be described below.
(Here is a web page with the background of the event, which is also a FReep of the cruel Code Pinko hate group and their fellow travelers assembled down the block to continue their vicious taunting of wounded troops. It also describes the intense hatred that the venomous Pinkos have for our troops, except those troops who join Pinko efforts. Some photos from past FReeps will be added to the web page.)
Our honor roll of those present:
3D-Joy, Albion Wilde, Alicia of VA *, Chief (GOE), Cindy-true-supporter, Fraxinus, Jimmy Valentine's brother, kristinn, Loro, Madison of MN*, tgslTakoma, Tolerance Sucks Rocks, Tom the Redhunter, VAFlagwaver, VictoryNY, and BillF. GOE=Gathering of Eagles * = lurker
As opposed to our 16 patriots, the Pinkos managed to assemble only 11 America-hating traitors and their well-meaning, but misguided, dupes at their location down the street.
tgslTakoma and I took the photos. Mine have DSCN follwed by numbers in their names, whereas tgsl's photos have just numbers in the names. Photos with borders are hyperlinked. Click on them and a larger version should appear in another window. All of tgsl's fine photos, many with funny captions, can be found here. If tgsl is in parenthesis after a caption below, that means that tgsl wrote the caption.
The four corners of the FReep:
With most FReepers out of view eating pizza or on the other three corners, tgsl's great MOAB is framed by U.S., military, and
allied flags mounted on upright PVC support poles
As shown by the above photo, our northeast corner location is dominated by the MOAB (Mother-of-all-Banners) brilliantly created and built by tgslTakoma, modified with input from others, and having the eye-catching array of flags on tall poles behind them.
Click here for a recipe for some earlier version MOABs. I suspect that tgsl would be willing to offer advice to any who need help building the improved latest version. (And while I'm talking FReeper tech, trooprally (Mr) has designed and built some great support stands that we usually use to hold the MOAB, effectively making it self-standing except in real windy conditions.)
The MOAB and flags are what the WR patients see when they look out their windows on Friday nights. Patients, family members of patients, and medics have told us that it lifts their spirits to see Americans out in the streets thanking them for their many efforts and sacrifices. Please sacrifice some time and join us this or another Friday in the near future. It's a small sacrifice compared to those made by troops and their families. Make sure that the WR patients keep seeing the MOAB, flags, signs, and supporting patriots.

Pinkos on Parade
As shown above, the Pinkos have changed dramatically from their early days at WR, when an American flag was never in their midst. They initially started bringing leftist versions of U.S. flags with peace symbols, instead of the stars. Later, they brought a real U.S. flag, which they often dragged on the ground as they rolled it up at the end of their event. When we included photos of Pinkos abusing the flag in our reports, a passing Pinko told us, out of the blue, that it was "ok to drag the flag on the ground as long as you wipe your arse with it first." Clearly, their use of American flags is simply an effort to mislead people into thinking that the Pinkos actually care about this country and its brave troops.
It was a fairly quiet night at WR with a few patients/troops stopping to talk with us and many more honking and waving as they entered or left the main gate at WR.
The real excitement of the night was when a black cat "attacked" FReepers gathered in our pizza-eating area. Despite our false reputation as right-wing attack dogs and concern that the evil Chief DC Pinko Gail Murphy might have dispatched the cat from her troop-hating and America-hating witch's lair, FReepers were able to blunt the "attack" as Fraxinus gently reduced the cat to a purring ball of fur as shown below.

BufordP says "I'm here in spirit", here being up a tree
Flat BufordP showed up in an unusual place, up in a tree as shown above. The real BufordP, expected to be back to WR this Friday following Haliburton summer training :) , could not be reached for comment as to why his 2-D counterpart had climbed the tree.
As happens most Fridays, a highlight of the evening is at the end when the bus with wounded troops returns from a restaurant visit. We cheer as the bus driver turns on the interior lights and the troops wave and give us "thumbs up" signals.
MOAB at left, bus with wounded heroes returns to cheers from FReepers, most out of view, arrayed on the four corners.
If you can't get to D.C. to join us, but would like to do something for the wounded, FReepmail Albion Wilde, Cindy-True-Supporter, or VAFlagwaver for some ideas.
Our troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere are out on a limb for us. Don't let the Pinkos and their allies saw the branch off. Come join us every Friday night per below details between the hours of 6:30pm to approx 9:30pm and also join us the week of Sept. 9, at least on Sept 15 per this thread and others:
Leftists Announce Sept. Actions in D.C. (Help the D.C. Chapter and GOE Defend America!).
The troops do the hard stuff, facing bullets and bombs, surely you can come out to back them up.
As always, the DC Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect.
Briefly, they are: No violence. No profanity. No racism. No provocations. Obey the law. Treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

PleaDeal's (GunnNutt) blog at Semper Gratus
Please join us. Support the troops and be a part of our peaceful counter-protest to Code Pink.
Don't let the troops think that regular Americans are too busy with yachts, polo, golf and other recreation to peacefully counter America-hating leftists.
Being there with us in spirit is great, but we need people to hold the MOAB (Mother of all banners), other signs, and flags. Maybe you can't come every week, but please make it your patriotic duty to join us at least once in the near future.
Fridays, 6:30 to 9:30 pm
Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 7200 Georgia Ave., at Elder St., NW, Washington, DC
On street parking is usually easy to find and there is a parking lot at the corner of Georgia and Elder. Location is about 6 or 7 blocks from Takoma metro station and is walkable, but it is best if you get a ride. If you want a ride, FReepmail tgslTakoma and me, preferably with your cell phone number as far in advance as possible. If you wait until Friday afternoon, it may be too late to coordinate a Metro ride.
DC Chapter ping! Please bump this thread to keep this on top of the latest posts.
FReepmail me to get on or off the list.
Please join us tonight and following Fridays. Also, on the week of Sept 9, especially on Sept 15, we need you to reinforce us in countering cANSWER per this thread and numerous related threads: Leftists Announce Sept. Actions in D.C. (Help the D.C. Chapter and GOE Defend
America! http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1872216/posts
If you don’t live in the DC area, this will be a perfect time to come visit us in Sept. The weather is usually great at that time. Visit the Air and Space Museum, the International Spy Museum, and see the Monuments: Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Vietnam War, Korean War, and World War II.
Then support the troops at WR and help us counter ANSWER. You can have a great time and do good.
You guys are great.
That was no Code Pinko cat - that was a Viking Kitty checking to see if you needed any backup!
Thanks for your kind words.
Actually, it’s our troops who are great and we just want them to feel the appreciation.
After last night's Fox5 News report on Free Republic, I guess Fox5 News was too busy trying to put together their BS hit piece to film the truth.
I just hope that cat-haters don’t invade the thread and post hate.
Channel 5 might use the cat-hate to justify their lame, hit piece, a hit piece in which Channel 5 served as a willing accomplice to a thug who makes thinly-veiled threats against the children of political opponents and encourages lawlessness.
Great report. VictoryNY,VAFlagwaver and I had a great practice session Wednesday evening and will be in fine voice this Friday.
As the ladies like to say, HOORAH! All the way.
Bump
bump
Flat BufordP was there. Jeez, we sure did miss a good FReep.
It also looked windy with the MOAB billowed out and the flags unfurled.
[Mr] T
Great report! Thanks. Thanks to all activist FReepers everywhere. FR’s finest support America’s finest!
Lord-willing, I will be there tonight.
I can certainly be labeled as unintelligent, but when I saw the words “Black Cat” and y’all together, I thought some of the Pinkos had resulted to using explosives...;-)
Do you realize how close to a road trip I came to, before I saw the humor up there???
Keep up the good work!!! You bet it is appreciated!!!
National readership ping to another great Walter Reed AAR by BillF.
What a great banner that MOAB is!
Thanks for the ping and your report
Great job!
Great Job
BTTT
Bump!
Someone should apply for the permit for the Pinko’s current spot and wait for them to forget to reapply again. That would really take the wind out of their sails!
