I was listening to the news out of the corner of my ear when I heard FreeRepublic specifically mentioned as a "hate site" about fifteen minutes ago.
Ostensibly the long report was about the Klan using the web to recruit new wackos. Then the focus turned to Casa Maryland, and their director who claimed that calls for his murder had circulated on the internet by anti-immigrant bigots. It was then that the anchor identified FR by name as a hate site.
If you keep this up, we might need to start up a prediction market to wager on how long you’ll still be a freeper.

Earlier, I found email addresses for NEWSCORP, FOX Corp HQ and the local station.
In very strong but diplomatic terms I advised the recipients that the Largest Conservative Forum in the World....had many members that were not going to sit still for this defamation.

I'd say the majority of FReepers do. Not an overwhelming majority, but a majority none the less. I know I've posted some comments I'd like to have taken back and I'm sure most of us have. People just get carried away and they're passionate, as you know. Bottom line is that we're all FReepers and we have a common bond that we should celebrate. I've often thought about starting a vanity thread about "How You Treat Other FReepers." Myself, I tend to give FReepers more of a benefit of the doubt the longer they've been around. Or if it's a high profiler like doug from upland I pretty much lay off. If it's a newbie, they better stay in line! LOL. Yes, I'm a bit off topic.

This is not enough. The damage was already done. They need a full on air retraction with follow up posting on their website. This was a Washington insider Republican that ran this story. There is much more to be found out.

While I agree with that statement, it leads me to ponder which president would be worse for the Republican party and conservative movement, Hillary, or pick your favorite RINO.
I’m 51 years old, and I’ve never seen anything energize and motivate the conservative movement like the Clinton presidency. I think if Hillary were elected...as horrifying as that thought is...she would put more strength into the conservative movement than anyone since Ronald Reagan. As opposed someone who is supposedly on “our side,” selling us out at every turn.
Nothing takes the juice out of a political movement like our own leadership cutting our legs out from under us.

If you had simply said, “Sorry, I should’ve cited the quote” no-one would’ve said anything more about it. You also could’ve asked a Mod to put in a citation that accurately attributed the quote to Livius. Or, you could have requested the post be deleted, and made a different post that was more accurate. Every few years I have reason to bump this past topic about the Clintons and how they storyboard their messaging years in advance. It's just that now is the time to move to kill FR as part of the messaging plan.
