F.R. defamed as "Hate Site" by Fox 5 News! [FOX News' Bill O'Reilly started this B/S]
Fox 5 News ^ | 8/16/07 | crusher

I was listening to the news out of the corner of my ear when I heard FreeRepublic specifically mentioned as a "hate site" about fifteen minutes ago.

Ostensibly the long report was about the Klan using the web to recruit new wackos. Then the focus turned to Casa Maryland, and their director who claimed that calls for his murder had circulated on the internet by anti-immigrant bigots. It was then that the anchor identified FR by name as a hate site.

Who would have thought that suggesting that JR set the record straight with BOR, in person, would amount to throwing flames at the man?

Nobody needs to set the record straight on O'Reilly. The man is a pathological liar, remember a few years back when he was accused of sexual harassment, made a big deal about denying it and then settled the case. The man has no character.

But, just to "set the record straight," I don't notice Jim asking you what you are doing posting on a closed forum on an anti-FReeper site. By the way, there's a great little search feature on that site, even though you aren't posting publicly, it's still shows your activity. Now see, THAT is what I call "unfairness" is people like you you have the gall to say one thing on FR, only to run off to a closed thread on an anti-FReeper site. So, back to "setting the record straight," what involvement did the banned FRiberals have in telling O'Reilly that FR was a "hate site"?

"I have seen long discussions about, among other things, nuking Mecca during the hajj. Whatever your perspective on it, you have to admit that a lot of people would see that as hate."

Only the muslims.......:)

Poor Bill knows he’s been had, but he can’t muster up the intestinal fortitude to set the record straight.

I'll bet that in his mind, BOR already did that when he ran letters the next night pointing out the imbalance between Kos and FR. What he refuses to publicly acknowledge, however, is that that is no different than a newspaper blaring a falsehood on Page A1, and then running a correction the next day on page A12.

BOR hates it when the MSM does it to him, but he's willing to hide behind letter writers when it's his mistake being corrected.

With all due respect, I think it does matter. I never depended on others to fight my personal or business battles for me, and can't understand those who would use others to battle for them.

"Never pick a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel" ...... Mark Twain.

The modern day version is "Never debate someone that controls the "Sound Volume" and the "Switch Camera" buttons on his own TV show."

Daniel Webster himself, at his most eloquent, would only be seen as moving his lips on the TV screen as Bill O'Reilly talked over him.

A professional speaker has a very slim chance of making his point in such an uneven playing field. A nonprofessional speaker is guaranteed to end up as toast.

He went with what his producers fed him, but he and they can’t back it up. Poor Bill knows he’s been had, but he can’t muster up the intestinal fortitude to set the record straight. He doesn’t need me on his show. He just needs to retract and apologize. The “folks” know the truth.

I think that's a good summary of the situation.

Wait. Let me get this straight. You think that impolite and nastiness are acceptable? Especially from the Founder? Chena does “get” what FR is about, just as I do, and it is NOT about that. We come here for open discussion with other conservative. NOT to be abused. It is unnecessary to attack others, especially since we are supposed to all be on the same side.

What do you think FR is about?

Now that's an interesting question.

Sorry, but I don’t think that it was a dig. It seemed to me as an expression of encouragement to stand up to the naysayers and liars. Perhaps she was also, frustrated at the lack of further action. Perhaps you were frustrated too with people proding for action. I, of course, don’t know. However, I remain convinced that the reaction was inappropriate, especially from someone in your position and of your stature.

Good questions wagglebee. It’s not difficult to sit back at a slight distance and see ill motives. As a hypothetical, if I wanted JR and FR to get smeared/hammered with residual impact as well, one way to do it would be to push for an appearance on BORat’s non-factor show.

Some may suggest it...being naive to the ways of the political world, but someone with years suggesting such a thing throws up ill motive flags to me.

I believe she knows this. The map shows a right turn, but some keep saying to turn left there. Why would they do that?

“battle you tomorrow”

Your choice. I’m right here if you can pull youself off the hurricane thread. Give me some hint as to what it is exactly that you are wanting to battle me over. Or just pick a topic, I’m game.

Well doesn't that make you flipping special. Having an opinion is like having an "anus" everyone has one. Please keep what comes out of yours to yourself. Hey... this is my opinion, Respectfully Up Yours.

"Wait. Let me get this straight. You think that impolite and nastiness are acceptable?"

The important issue is not about being impolite, it's about freedom of speech and the liberal attempt to shut people up, on both sides of the isle.

The issue you want to highlight is about personality and style and should be left between the two parties involved.

Jim is a great American. Unless you are his mother or his wife you have no business correcting him on his "politeness".

I understand the issue is freedom of speech, however, the manner in which information is presented is also important. That is the difference between us and the liberals.

As for post to Jim. I still think he is a great American. Your post to me: “ Unless you are his mother or his wife you have no business correcting him on his “politeness”.” Is interesting since that you would violate your own advice given that you are neither my father or husband. Not that it would make any difference because parents or spouses do not control. I stand up for those that are not treated fairly. Not just online either. Let me reinerate. I still think Jim is great.

Wild..simply wild stereotypes and sweeping generalizations.

I totally feel the power of your Miss Manners vibes overtaking the nation.

Yep...when you get done with all of us conservatives we will all resemble Aunt Bee from The Andy Griffith Show.

Now, If you please, I will depart this ever so "special" conversation and go make an apple pie or something.
