Amsterdam, A Dutch Catholic bishop has suggested that Christians should refer to God as "Allah" to promote better relations with Muslims.

"Allah" is not a word meaning "God" nor is it the same deity.
"Allah" is the name of the Islamic "god"; the arabic word for god is "ilah"
The true God of the bible is "Yahweh" which does not translate to "Allah", just as the name "Peter" does not translate to "Anthony" in any language.
The God of the bible is a loving God, The Ilah of the Koran is a murdering, hateful 'ilah", the complete opposite, which means it is SATAN.
This "Bishop" needs to have his head examined. Plus he needs to re-read the bible about caving in to cares of the world, and abandoning faith in the WORD.

...And, I’m well aware that certain ancient eastern rites call God Allah and have done so for centuries prior to the birth of mohammed the child rapist. But the bishop didn’t say that we should call God Allah to get closer to Eastern Catholics...he said to do to get closer to islam.

As for those eastern Christians using the word "Allah" they have no choice. It keeps their heads attached. In their hearts They pray to Yahweh, and that's what counts.

But you could just as truthfully say that if God had wanted to be called "God" he would have told Moses. The word "God" is not in the original Bible no more than word "Allah" is.
The Arabic word "Allah" is not found in the original language of the Bible because the Bible was written in Hebrew and Greek. The English word "God" is not found in the original language of the Bible because the Bible was written in Hebrew and Greek.
The use of the word "Allah"by Arabic speakers is no more illegitimate or displeasing to God than the use of the word "God' is by English speakers. What God is concerned about is what people believe/teach/practice about him no matter what language they use.
That said, the bishop's suggestion to Dutch speakers seems obviously to be bringing legitimacy to the Islamic concept of Allah and is nothing more than typical PC dingbat multicultural mush.
“Allah” is just another name of the Zoroastrian entity known as “Ahriman”.
The Koran was written by the “Prophet” Mohammed, out of nonsense that was put in his head by Ahriman.
Ahriman was the prototype of the supernatural being we know as “Satan” or the Devil. Right down to the appearance: pointed tail, horned head, goatee beard, cloven hooves, the trident, and entirely red.
If the head-choppers have their way the bishop will hear the word “allah” in the phrase “allahu akhbar” as the machete is brought to his Christian neck.
What was he implying? A prediction or an exhortation?
If the latter, he should be defrocked, sat facing backwards on a mule and sent to Mecca to live.
Walid Shoebat is an amazing witness for the Lord.
I understand that “Allah” is just Arabic for “God” ... but why would I pray in Arabic? I don’t speak Arabic, and generally I prefer to understand myself when I pray.
Also - considering the geopolitical implications of all Christians now substituting the word “allah” for “God” in their prayers ... I’d rather (1) not get hassled by Homeland Security in an airport if I decide to pray that my plane doesn’t crash, and (2) not allow a victory, even if hollow, to those who have been trying to convert us “infidels” to allah-worship by detonating themselves near civilians.
