ABC Blames Karl Rove for Swift Boat Ads, All Nets Scold Him for Plame Leak
Newsbusters ^ | August 14, 2007 | Brent Baker

Posted on 08/15/2007 12:01:24 AM PDT by Anita1

Reporting on the resignation of presidential political adviser Karl Rove, ABC's World News on Monday night absurdly blamed Karl Rove for the ads from Swift Boat Veterans for Truth and featured John Kerry's condemnation of Rove as all three broadcast network evening shows castigated Rove for his criticism of how Democrats want to coddle terrorists and highlighted his “leaking” of Valerie Plame's name.

We still don’t have the facts on Kerry’s war record. As I recall, the SF 180 has still not been signed.

What we DO know...Kerry is a loser.

I’ve always found a great deal of amusement watching liberals explaining away political defeats over the past few decades to ‘nefarious means’.

All they do is reinforce the viewpoint they are simplistic children running amok.

Media Schadenfreude and Media Shenanigans PING

I guess that the major networks must feel some guilt over COLLUDING with the DNC on a number of stories. This is projection and mythmaking. Pure Zogbyism.

In the last 2 days leading up to the election candidate Bush and his team played poker with their polling data from California. Keeping a tight lipped smirk on their faces when they were pressed for details and insights of how they thought they might do in the Golden State. I believe that Bush even took a trip out west in that final weekend prompting the “conventional wisdom” to take a panic stricken glance around at each other with the urgent sense of “what do these guys know that we don’t”?

Zogby cooked the books and the libs cited the phony exit poll numbers on election day DURING the polling day as proof that the Republicans were toast.

And after the election, they cited those same boosted numbers as "proof" that the election had been stolen from them.

This is downright amazing. Even after Armitage has come out and said he dropped Plames name, even after Robert Novak backs that up, the lamestream media still says it was Rove who did it. It’s not stupidity - it is outright lies!

I watched a video last night of Colin Powell at the Aspen Conference this year stating that NO Crime was committed in the Wilson case

Funny thing is .. I don't remember the media reporting on that

If Rove is going to have any affect on the 2008 election, he needs to be able to devote time to that instead of the waning days of the Bush administration (there is no re-election or VP-to-Presidency campaign).

Not to mention how he sunk the Titanic by shooting a torpedo into it's side and cleverly making people believe that it sunk because it rammed an iceberg.

“On the other hand, spending our time on refuting the endless campaigns of false mythologies saps time and energy that could better be spent on more effective pursuits. It is just like winning an argument with a child - Even after the point is won, the child will usually not accept that they are wrong, they only lick their wounds and engage in fantasies that somehow make them noble, righteous and of course, “they were right all along”, regardless of the facts or reality.”

Well stated. This also supports the other thread about Feelings. To the MSM it’s always about how to make you feel something quickly, so you won’t take the time to check.

Once proved wrong, you want to feel good about being wrong, so you invent some explanation for yourself to fell OK.

It’s almost criminal that such warm and cuddly Dem saints as James Carville, Paul Begala and Bob Schrum have to deal with a vicious bloodsucker like Karl Rove.

The myths never die, no matter how outrageous and false. The “news” media know it and don’t care, or they deliberately lie. For 20 years we’ve been hearing about how the VP Bush campaign used the Willie Horton ad to rile up racist voters. Never mind that the Bush campaign had no actual hand in creating or distributing that ad. It was just assumed those bad racist Republicans did it, and that was that. Dukakis’s soft on crime record was never an issue to the left.

Brad wins the prize for the correct answer to "Who was responsible for the Swift Boat Ads!"

John Kerry is to blame for the Swift Boaters. After projecting staged combat footage on a giant screen to a packed DNC crowd and then rendering his Vaudevillian salute—”I’m John Kerry and I’m reporting for duty”—some TV viewers thought they had tuned into Saturday Night Live. It was just one comic scene after another until November. In Massachusetts politics Kerry had used his contrived war stories and “two tours” (equaling 4 months in country) to defeat his opponents. On the national stage he was a sad clown.

Went to the Freedom Concert last night. Mark Levin came on stage. During his introduction one of the other hosts mentioned the news media was there. During his comments Mark said he something to say about the media. He paused and then said “You’re a**holes” which brought about a round of cheers and applause from the 6,300+ attendees at the concert.

It was Al Gore who first brought up Willie Horton in the Democrat Primary against Michael Dukakis.

The democraps should be crying because he’s leaving. Rove has been a God-send for them.. He pushed Bush for amnesty, he pushed Bush on the Dubai ports fiasco, he pushed Bush to not veto all the pork spending and may be more responsible than most democraps for the republican defeat in the last election...

He almost handed them two presidential elections - Gore was a joke in 2000, the VP of the most corrupt and vile admin in history, the stains of Clinton spelled guaranteed defeat for any democrap who was close to Bubba and dared to run. Gore, the doofus VP nearly won. Rove wanted to play clean and not bash Gore with the Clinton scandals. Gore nearly stole an election he should have lost by over 10%...

In 2004 Rove had a sitting president who stood up to the terrorists after 9-11 and had a roaring economy. He nearly lost to a pathetic gigolo who had done nothing his entire life but live off the women he married and played the part of Ted Kennedy’s lap dog in the senate. A review of his 20 plus year in the senate indicated a very lackluster legislative agenda, no meaningful bills brought to the floor and a long trail of flip-flops on policy. If it wasn’t for the Swift Boat Vets proving he lied about his military record, his bogus medals, reminding the American people of his unsubstantiated attacks on Nam vets as war criminals, his trips to Paris to meet with the enemy, and his general self-serving behavior during Vietnam - that a-hole would be president.. Rove wanted to shy away from challenging Kerry’s Vietnam record...

Rove is easily the most overrated political strategist in the last 100 years... Good riddance jerk !!!!

I saw the ABC News “report”. What a crock!

I’d turned it on for Mom as she likes to watch the news. She was in the bathroom and missed the unbelievably hateful and inaccurate “report”.

The Willy Horton ad was first used in the 1988 Democrat primary by Al Gore to try to defeat Dukakis.

Thank you, Al!! It was a great ad.

Wonder how much Rove helped set the “new tone” that supressed the reports and prosecution of the vandalism at the White House when the Clinton/Gore team moved out.

Wonder how much of a hand he played in Bush being oh so civil with the Clintons despite their own subsequent interference with the Bush administration in a break with the traditions of past presidents.
