Duncan Hunter here Today!
GoHunter08 | 8/13/07 | pissant

Posted on 08/13/2007 10:16:09 AM PDT by pissant

Folks, Sam Hunter has confirmed a time of 1:00 PM Pacific Time, today, August 13 for Congressman Duncan Hunter to join us live.

I will post our original list of questions with his answers to kick the thread off at that time.

Follow-ups are welcome. But please be cognizant that an hours time will not allow many to be answered. Though the Congressman will try to follow up later for those left unaddressed.

Also, the moderators will be watching out for disruptors. So behave or don't come on the thread.

Thanks in advance.

Do you think America is served more by acting and lawyering than by one serving his country in combat?

Personally, I don't think it matters either way. I know this ticks off many DH supporters, but I do not automatically equate military service with either leadership ability nor with moral superiority.

OK, fair enough, I can understand that. Personally, I don’t think there’s anything to the Cunningham line, but there are plenty of tough questions that could be asked, such as what he’s going to do to get his campaign off the ground, his fiscal record, and some other things.

Shrill? No that’s too nice a word for what I feel for liars and propagandists. I see PC has overtaken the world. Just let someone jump in with disinformation propaganda and let it go. That’s how we got where we are today. And when you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get the same old thing.

Have it your way.

Goodbye all.

A question for Duncan Hunter: Mr. Hunter, you have been a U.S. House Representative since 1980, so do you believe in eventually creating term limits for all of Congress, and is the idea of term limits for politicians mostly good or mostly bad for all politicians at every level?

Watch it, that question comes dangerously close to being slander....

Actually, I’d say things got the way they are by backing down from confrontation, Aunt B.

Leaving makes no sense in that light. But if thats your decision, say hello to my anti groupies at LP for me...(chuckle)

True. And for the record, I don’t there’s anything at all to DH’s friendship with Duke Cunningham, either.

No, I like DH. What galls me is the way his supporters seem like they want to gloss over any and every question about their candidate that in any way appears to be anything other than abject hero-worship of the man. He's just a man, like anyone else. He can be questioned like anyone else. Sure, Duncanistas want to attack everyone eyse, but say a word about DH's record that doesn't involve building a wall or voting for umpteen billions for the armed forces, and suddenly they're howling about how unpatriotic it is to question DH.

Likewise I'd much rather choose Fred Thompson than many alternatives, but I find that anytime anybody questions Fred's conservative credentials, the impudent inquiry is smeared as being from an unpatriotic Democratic saboteur.

It works both ways.

Respectfully, Murtha served the country, and if you want to be technical, so did algore and kerry.

Service alone is not enough.

And as for being a lawyer, some of us on FR are lawyers.

We have to be SUPER on best behavior for this one because hopefully more candidates will do this. It will be invaluable for us to play nice.

Personally I would like to hear him say he will activly support a federal marriage amendment.

or will work on fixing the alternative minimum tax

or any other number of questions.

We will all be able to read his visit later and I am 100% certain opposition research will also be reading the thread.

so once more, we all need to play nice.

:-)

True enough, which is why I support Fred, but largely stay away from the FredThreads now.

>>>That sounds like hero worship....

Duncan Hunter, was honored with the Semper Fidelis award by the United States Marine Corps, honored with the Keeper of the Flame, and is a War Veteran.

He IS a hero.

I will proudly follow his leadership.

Ha! Tell me another one!

Our grandmother's brain was dead, but her heart was still beating. She was the first Democrat we'd ever had in the family.

Well put.

I, too, would like to see several of the other candidates face the populace here at Free Republic. Most of us are very intelligent, definitely well-informed voters and activists and it’s a nice place to get the word out to some solid grass-roots conservatives.

LOL! Well my simple mind tried to do it with Underdog!

Click for WAV

There's no need to fear! Army Ranger is here!

when criminals in this world appear
and break the laws that they should fear
and frighten all who see or hear
the cry goes up both far and near
for Army Ranger! Army Ranger! Army Ranger! Army Ranger!

speed of lightning, roar of thunder
fighting all who rob or plunder
Army Ranger. Army Ranger!

when in this world the headlines read
of those whose hearts are filled with greed
who rob and steal from those who need
to right this wrong with blinding speed
goes Army Ranger! Army Ranger! Army Ranger! Army Ranger!

speed of lightning, roar of thunder
fighting all who rob or plunder
Army Ranger. Army Ranger!

You are right. And there is nothing dishonorable with being an honest lawyer just as any honest work is honorable.

And you make a point how that these type of candidate threads should be held to a higher standard. I "let my ugly out" and I apologize for going too negative after another Republican possible candidate.

It might have been my sinus headache talking.

Another bump of agreement. Regardless of how this presidential campaign turns out, Duncan Hunter’s whole life has been the ideal of patriotic bravery and public service.
