At the first Gathering of Eagles, there was plenty of conflict, debate, and argument. The ANSWER freaks, with their anarchist gear and "U.S. Out of Iraq NOW" signs, seemed more than willing to accuse us of racism, attack the President, and bash the Iraq War. What they weren't too good at was penetrating our lines and getting into our territory, which was their goal. No one approached the wall. What a couple of ANSWER folks did do however was cross the police-created lines and visit the Lincoln Memorial, an area that the Eagles had solid control of. In fact, our numbers were so solid that we had almost all of the Mall covered.
To the right, I've put together a map marking the area that each of our groups controlled. ANSWER was pretty much stuck in one little tract of land, while the Eagles roamed free across the mall, defending the Vietnam Wall, the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean Memorial, and even the WWII Memorial which isn't pictured in the map. Remember all my pictures of Us. Vs. Them? Those pictures only portrayed the Eagles on the north side of the Lincoln Memorial. Thousands more roamed cross the mall, but the media ignored them, hence the media blackout on the true Eagle numbers. 30,000 were on our side, and only 10,000 on theirs, but when you ignore most of the Gathering, you end up with New York Times numbers, saying only hundreds of our folks showed up. It was idiocy.
Back to the story. Two ANSWER freaks, with their trademark yellow signs, decided to walk into the area around the Lincoln Memorial, not chanting, but walking amongst Vietnam Veterans and patriots, trying to start some sort of controversy. Several men walked up to them and told them, rather calmly, that they needed to get back across the road and into ANSWER territory. I heard one man plainly say "Listen buddy, you need to get back with your side." There was nothing intimidating in the way the Eagles handled the situation, despite what the anti-war folks would like us to believe. The two men pictured above were overwhelmed, surrounded by patriots, and I believe they had no clue how many Eagles they'd be walking into when they chose to cross "the DMZ". They walked the long way around the Lincoln Memorial and made their way back into ANSWER territory. Eagles stand proud while socialists and seditionists retreat.
So, it begs the question, are you going to stand strong as an Eagle on September 15th? If you can't get there, are you going to support the Eagles wherever they soar? Are you going to tell your family and friends the stories of the Eagles, the stories that the media doesn't want you to see? Eagles Up! on September 15th. My fundraising effort also carries on, if you'd like to help. Let's soar Eagles.
You need to add black hatching to the area across the strees fron the Lincoln Memorial in the area before the bridge.
I crossed the road to the area that was included in our permit and was joined by 25 or 30 others, including a group of college age kids. Before crossing the bridge, the Answer group was accosted from both sides.
These are the areas controlled PRIOR to when ANSWER began the march. I’d have to put yellow hatching on the road for the freaks if we did areas controlled during the march.
Unless your were planning a Part 5.
BELOW LEFT: Set Up. BELOW RIGHT: Banner the anarchist saw coming over the bridge.

[Mr] T
I’m not forgetting about you guys, but these were MY tales as an Eagle and I didn’t get to the other side to see you folks. I am planning a part five though. I’m going to GOE III, assuming the rest of the funding comes in.
For future FYI, we DID have all the permitted areas mentioned by Bert and for half of the Arlington Cemetery circle, whether they were occupied the whole day or just during their march.
I can dig up a map of our permitted areas if you want.
Other than the permitted areas, I’ve enjoyed your threads. They give a good perspective of why we ALL need to be in D.C. in September.
[Mr] T
Hopefully we’ll met at GoE III

I saw what I remember to be the 101st Vietnam Vets. I see them all looking at me. I gotta tell you, a voice spoke to me and said, 'speak before you are spoken to'. So, I held the sign up and cried, 'THIS SIGN IS CAPTURED!'. They gave me a HOORAH!! and laughed, they gathered round. I gave them the, 'you should see what the commie bastard who was carrying the sign looks like'. I lifted my boot and said, 'I stomped on the commie SOB, do I got shit on my boots'? Man, they all laughed and I got my picture taken again. So I moved on.
And I was coming up to the Lincoln Memorial. I saw the Marines. I thought, this will be a hoot. Well, I damn near got kilt. A Former Marine charged me and I smartly gave up the sign and ducked out of the way. I tried to tell him the sign was captured, but he didn't hear me. He was to busy busting the sign into a bunch of little pieces. I did get a lot of satisfaction out of watching him destroy it (he damn sure deserved too), but I just wanted to make sure he knew I was a bull.
OK, to explain the bull thing above:
There were three bulls on a hill looking down at all the Cows in the valley. The big bull owned 50 cows. The medium sized bull owned 25 cows and the little bull had about ten cows. Well, the farmer came buy in his truck pulling a trailer. The farmer stopped the truck in the valley. Opened up the gate to the trailer and ran like mad back to the truck.
And the meanest, nastiest, biggest bull you ever saw came out of the trailer like the Tazmanian Devil. He stopped, lifted his head in the air. He started snorting and kickin like a bull does when he smells a valley full of cows. Well, the big bull says, heck I'll give him all my cows but one. The medium sized bull said he would do the same. And the little bull started kickin and a snortin'. The big bull said, you aint gunna fight the big ol' bull for your ten little cows are you? The little bull stopped and said, 'nope, I just want to make sure that he knows I am a bull'.
I and my 14 year old daughter will be there on Sept.15TH.
Love your reports of the first GOE.
Eagles up!!!
