Erica Attanasio says she'll be left destitute now that the divorce is pending and the judge has backed a prenuptial she signed in 1997.
Erica Attanasio with mobster Louis (Louis Ha ha) Attanasio.
Bonanno capo Louis Attanasio is tossing the missus and her 89-year-old mother out of their New Jersey townhouse after a judge ruled his prenuptial pact is bulletproof.
He's also forcing her to pay his matrimonial legal bills. Facing financial ruin, she's already applied for welfare.
"He said he wants to see me pushing a shopping cart in the street," said Erica Attanasio, 46. "I'm not taking this sitting down. It's like he beat the system again."
She was referring to the sweet 15-year prison deal Attanasio got last year after pleading guilty to the 1984 rubout of Sicilian-born capo Cesar Bonventre.
Erica, a Costa Rican beauty, says she hooked up with the tough guy the same year, when he was the married owner of a bar in her Fort Greene, Brooklyn, neighborhood.
"You know how they always have a girlfriend? Unfortunately that was me," she said.
"I never worked because he liked me being home. There was nothing I didn't get, even things I didn't ask for. Being so young, who wouldn't like that lifestyle? It was just like the movies."
She said Attanasio made millions in real estate. But his 1992 divorce from his first wife was so costly he demanded Erica sign a prenup when they married in 1997.
She agreed, and the wedding ceremony was held in a prison at Fort Dix.
After they got hitched, he put her son from a previous marriage through private school and put a roof over her head, she said.
But life could be stressful - especially in 2003, when high-ranking Bonannos started singing about their cronies' misdeeds.
"He knew he was in trouble and that he might get life," she said.
The couple fled to a waterfront condo on the Caribbean island of St. Martin.
Attanasio purchased a modest townhouse in Old Bridge, N.J., so Erica would have a place to stay when she returned for treatment of bipolar disorder, she said.
"I feel like I'm entitled to this home," said the woman, who added that she has been hospitalized for emotional problems several times and has a brain tumor.
"He bought it for me, not us. I feel like I'm also entitled to some money just to get on my feet. Not be thrown in the street."
Under the prenup - which was upheld by a Middlesex County, N.J., judge last week - Mrs. Attanasio is not entitled to a 50-50 split of her hubby's still-considerable assets.
Once the divorce is final, she will get $200,000 over five years. But after paying the lawyers, there won't be much money left, so she applied for public assistance on Wednesday.
From his jail cell in Pennsylvania, Attanasio put up a bigger fight over the prenup than he did in the murder case.
In an affidavit, he hotly disputed Erica's claim that she became a kept woman once they got together in 1984.
He wrote: "I dated her along with many other women in the late 1980s."
Mob Ping

15 years for murder and 0 dollars for the ex wife? The judges must really be on the mob payroll.
You’d think after 10 years of marriage, she’d have learned a thing or two about skimming some cash.
I didn’t know mobsters got divorced. I thought they just had goomahs.
Getting married in prison should have given her a clue..
It really is pathetic. Don't these kind of women have any kind of pride or self-respect?
And she would like to continue that lifestyle. According to her just because she signed an agreement to the contrary shouldn't make any difference.
The article doesn't give any details about why they are getting divorced. Must be some real problems there.
“It’s always so strange that some people think they can lie down with snakes and never get bitten.”
What was he thinking!
Apparently she never paid attention to the endings.
Corruption is an interesting thing to observe.
I never could understand how society would tolerate, let alone condone organized crime/Mafia/Cosa Nostra until more recently I’ve observed corruption on others to such a point that one it is easier to ask who isn;t corrupt than to ask who is corrupt.
It appears those who are corrupt, frequently isolate their corruption from their surrounding lives and continue to do what they perceive is right in their own eyes.
Much of their focus and effort then may become distracted into counterfeit systems of good. Some focus on justice, others power, others forming order out of chaos or their own interpetation of worldly systems to promote good or morality. Some others still branch off into opposite directions, finding more solace in lasciviousness than in legalism, but still living a life focused on a world without faith through Christ as their primary way of thinking. All of them, though, without belief in God through faith in Christ in all things, simply have fallen into a form of corruption, (including myself, probably even in ways I’m so scarred i my thinking to even be cognizant of where I may have fallen).
I commented the other day how every time I watch the Godfather trilogy, I notice something I hadn’t seen or observed before.
I noticed recently how in the opening scene where the Godfather is listening to the undertaker who seeks vengeance upon some thugs who had harmed the face of his daughter, the Godfather is very acutely aware of what action is just, vice vengeance in that situation. He further focuses upon how the undertaker insults the Godfather in his own home by suggesting something unjust be done to the guilty, but the Godfather still seeks to be placed first above legitimate authority, thereby a type of anitChrist or Adversary to holiness. After the undertaker leaves, the Godfather decides to grant proper vengeance with justice, because afterall they aren’t murderers.
In many times past, when I saw the scene, my impression was that the Godfather was being sarcastic or jokingly lied about their status, but the more I observe corruption, the scene actually reflects the thinking of the corrupt. The Godfather so portrayed actually doesn;t see himself as a murderer, but as one upholding justice, yet doing these things which are righteous in his own eyes, blind to the righteousness of God.
If any truism exists in our generation, I observe this same type of corruption throughout our society, with the only discernible difference being the type of medicine the corrupt seek as a counterfeit to God’s plan of salvation. Some seek legalism, some seek lasciviousness; some seek to perform good works independent of faith through Christ, others seek to work towards a common good. Some mature in righteousness, others mature in unrighteousness.
IMHO, more deadly than those who mature in unrighteousness, are those who mature in righteousness independent of faith through Christ, because they have simply corrupted themselves in their thinking and the world about them, merely blinding themselves to the extent of their corruption and the exceedingly sinfulness of missing the mark.
Get a job you lazy swine!
