Rep. Rangel Rips Giuliani, Calling Him A 'Bum'

U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel isn't holding back in his criticism of presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani.

Friday the Democrat from New York's 15th District criticized New York's former mayor, telling Gabe Pressman that Giuliani shouldn't get New Yorkers' support just because he's from the area.

Rangel said, "He was never one of our boys. He was a bum. He was a terrible man. It's the post 9/11, when we couldn't find the president, and he was fearlessly walking up and down the streets. And that's the guy that America has known. But now the firemen are coming out, the emergency medical people are coming out, his kids are coming out. You know, people are going to find out who is this guy, and it's not going to be kind."

He’s the mayor who would not allow the police to quell the rioting blacks in Crown Heights in 1991, resulting in the beating of dozens of Jews, and the death of an Australian rabbinical student, who was stabbed while a mob shouted “kill the Jew” (his killer was acquitted by an all black jury). David Dinkins is the bum, who allowed New York’s first pogrom to go unchecked. Rudy may not be our best choice for president, but he did clean up the city and was not afraid to fight crime.

I don't agree with Rudy on quite a few things but I'm fed up with Democrat ad hominem attacks on our party's candidates. They have nothing better to do than to criticize and they offer no real solutions. Rudy can name some things he'd like to do in Washington. Can the Democrats?
