News agency Reuters has been forced to admit that footage it released last week purportedly showing Russian submersibles on the seabed of the North Pole actually came from the movie Titanic.
The images were reproduced around the world - including by the Guardian and Guardian Unlimited - alongside the story of Russia planting its flag below the North Pole on Thursday last week.

In a related Rueters' story, Carnival Cruise Lines has launched a new ship devoted to singles on vacation . . .
OMG. That is funny!! I missed that one.
I just have to laugh every time I see that picture.
Did the Russians plant the flag under the North Pole, or did they plant it under Leonardo DiCaprio?
All the Fake-But-Accurate news that’s fit to print!
Michelle Kosinski was on assignment for The Today Show in October, 2005 covering the Northeast floods and “reporting” live from a canoe. Two guys inadvertantly walked in front of the camera showing that the whole thing was staged and the water was barely ankle-deep. It was just another “fake but accurate” story from a dying, socialist “mainstream” Democrat newsroom.
Ohhhhhhhhh, Reuters gets roto-rootered......LOL
We can only hope...
Although I have to admit, I did enjoy his role in “The Aviator”...:)
“...show me all the blueprints...show me all the blueprints...show me all the blueprints...”
I love that shot. I remember seeing it and it the first thing to mind when I think of the Media. She was talking about how bad it was and then two dudes walk past. Classic.
Rush on this now.
What's different now is that they don't operate in a vacuum anymore, and they can't withstand any amount of scrutiny.
Here is how it happened.....
At the top of the 7 oclock hour, Matt Lauer introduced the report:
But first, the severe flooding here in the Northeast, as more rain continues to fall today. NBCs Michelle KosinskiI guess, shes in a canoe .
Boy, was she! From the belly of the craft, Ms. Kosinski delivered a report in which she described evacuation efforts and mentioned that there was deeper, rougher water nearby. Just as she was kicking it back to Katie Couric, the two men splashed their way into the frame.
Mr. Lauer perked up. Is there some kind of severe drop-off there between the foreground that wego back, he said. We saw these guys a second ago, Michelle, walkingare these holy men walking on top of water? Whats going on here?
Ms. Kosinski, who last month was named this years hot reporter on Rolling Stone magazines annual Hot List, improvised gamely. Why walk, she said, when you can ride?
Is your oar hitting the ground, Michelle? asked Ms. Couric, not one to miss so golden an opportunity.
Of course not, Ms. Kosinski replied. Its as smooth as silk.
For some reason, I was thinking that picture was from Katrina. I do remember seeing that picture on FR more than once.
al reuters , again.
Thanks for the ping.
