Forum Reflects Gays' Clout [Tonight's Democrat Debate]
WSJ ^ | August 9, 2007 | JACKIE CALMES

Posted on 08/09/2007 8:05:05 PM PDT by indcons

All the major Democratic presidential candidates-and none of the Republicans-will be in Los Angeles tonight for what was billed as a nonpartisan forum on issues important to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans. The televised event showcases the status that gays' votes and money have earned them in the Democratic Party, but also the continued controversy of their cause.

Writer and gay-rights advocate David Mixner recognizes this as much as anyone. Two decades ago, the 1988 presidential campaign of Democratic nominee Michael Dukakis, fearful of controversy, declined an offer by Mr. Mixner and three wealthy friends to raise $1 million from the gay community. In 1992, he raised $3.5 million for Bill Clinton's campaign. Now, he is backing former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards and doesn't know how much he has raised, but says, "I've done real well."

The entire Democratic field's support of gay rights is so similarly strong that Mr. Mixner picked Mr. Edwards based on an unrelated matter: his opposition to the Iraq war. All the major Democrats favor civil unions for gay couples, and repeal of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy against openly gay service members that front-runner Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's husband initiated.

Their Republican counterparts don't; former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney have pivoted away from their previous stands favoring gay rights as they seek the nomination of a party in which social conservatives hold sway.

I'm watching the post-"homo love fest" coverage on Logo Online right now. The "transgendered" commentator is speaking now - it calls the event the greatest "political event in recent history."

Tell ‘em to stop marketing their filth to innocent children in the public schools.

They’re not interested in children, remember?

“Tell ‘em to stop marketing their filth to innocent children in the public schools”

I don’t understand how they think that they want to unify the country, as they claimed so strongly. How are they going to be unified with people who see this as being an outrage? There is no way there can be unity when there is such a wide gap between the way people perceive basic truths. They can talk a good game and make it sound like they mean well, but it’s just talk. They should really keep this conversation out of the public eye. They don’t want to unify, they will wage war on people who see the truth, and that’s just a sad fact. Their types already band together and discriminate against those they perceive to not be on board. One way or another, someone IS going to be discriminated on, they just want to make sure that honest, decent people are on the receiving end of that.

- nonpartisan forum on issues important to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans.

Anyone making such a statement is so depraved, they no longer have the mental or moral capacity to understand that this type of special interest group forum (and in this case a particularly dreadful and disgusting one) is one of extreme partisanship.

What do you think is the reason that the Democrats are doing this? What is there motivation and what do they hope to gain?

On another note, I saw Hillary, she didn’t look too comfortable. Melissa E., the rock star sounded like she was really unhappy with Hillary. Even though I disagree with Melissa and her lifestyle, I thought, she’s proof not all gay people are bad. She actually had the courage to confront Hillary’s phoniness. I don’t have a problem with people being misguided, what I really have a problem with is people with an agenda who are dishonest and and willing to gain power by hook or crook.

Why call them GAY? Politically correctness? we are on FR, not the MSM.

I called them HOMOSEXUALS... that is as nice as I refer to them. Actually I prefer queers or fags even degenerates. Their whole function in life is to lower the culture. It's like a cancer that sickens or kills the goodness of everything it touches. Because only when everything stenches they might lessen the stink of their own life style on their faces.

"Gay" is like trying to sugar-coat a piece of shi*.

Why would anyone have put the word "Pride" in a fag parade? ANSWER: Because it is obvious there is nothing to be proud of by being a fag (lol).

What do you think is the reason that the Democrats are doing this? What is there motivation and what do they hope to gain?

Hillary and the Democrats are passionately in favor of homosexuality and the scope of the -new morality- that has been eating away at the country since the nineteen sixties.

She and the other Dems want to make sure they receive a good turnout from the moral deviance voters (and a lot of donations as well) who are at war with God and with American culture. As they court these extreme groups (with which they are the amoral twin) they must do so with caution. For they must stay on guard to not fail at the task of keeping certain enclaves of ignorant religious voters in the dark (how these people remain in the dark is the work of their carnal religious leaders).

She knows with certainhood that the relgious right and and those who still hold as true, the -old morality- , are not up for sale, they are not tossed about by every changing wind of manipulation and they understand the liberal's nefarious game.

The reason Hillary and the Dems do not openly cheer for homosexuality and its fellows which they energetically support is because the spell which the Dems have cast upon certain churched voters might well be broken.

The fact that the Democrats and Hillary have set about to destroy the influence of the Bible even as they visit black churches -sometimes using christian terminology spoken in an embarrassingly phony black dialect- does not break this deeply entrenched spell of deceit.

Only a bombardment of forthrightness and honest admissions of their real plans and goals, spoken directly to these willingly ignorant voters would begin to put a crack in the facade.

Hillary is not about to risk any form of honesty until the votes are counted.

Then you will begin to see the gloves removed to reveal clawed appendages dripping with blood.

Do they really need to court the gay vote that hard? Aren’t gays voting Dem by nearly the same margins as blacks?

Although none of the Dem contenders appear to be willing to offend the very vocal gay community by not showing up for this, I’m betting none want to be perceived as “winning the gay debate”. Look for a pretty boring affair.
