'Hundreds' cancel trips, homeowner threatens to move out
Telluride: Some of the ski fans who have patronized Telluride, Colo., now are calling the ritzy resort "the land of radical liberals" and canceling planned vacations there because the town board voted to approve an ordinance calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney.
One ski club of 175 people already has made plans to go elsewhere, another skier has threatened to sell his home there and another critic predicted the town soon would bow to Mecca.
"It's huge, unbelievable," said Telluride Mayor John Pryor. "Ski groups are canceling for the winter. Hundreds of people are bailing. The (town) website is flooded with people saying they're canceling their vacations here."
The storm of protest followed the town board's recent vote on the impeachment issue, according to a report in the Denver Post.

Not likely. Anyone who moves out will immediately be replaced by probably another Californicate transplant..........
Places like that are all havens for out of state liberals who want to take over the towns and create their own liberal utopias. Its generally the "born there" navtives who are the conservatives and have to watch their towns slowly become "upscale" getaways as they also watch their taxes go up too......
To Hell You Ride thinks they are much more important than the rest of the world does. It used to be a nice little town, but the last time we were there we said it was the LAST time, Moscow in the Mountains.
Considering what the property values probably are around there and tax revenues from same, that kind of city income can provide top notch services with little monitoring from the town officials...
...nice try Mayor.....maybe you knew that if you put it on a bollot, it was likely to fail....
...and maybe you didn't want it to fail????.
..or maybe didn't think anyone would notice...but the town would be on the record just in case some nut job asked???
It couldn’t happen to a nicer city. I, too, hope they go bankrupt.
Telluride's elected offices are filled by Libertarians, Green Party members and Democrats. They describe their town as "open and accepting," even if visitors don't see it that way.
Open and accepting. They reject the majority of Americans in one swell foop.
So it either had to be put up to a vote or adopt it without a vote.
Which option did they choose?
I am sure there will be other anti-Americans who will be there with you. As for me I would never support a town that is this anti-American.
Telluride has always been left...they are getting exactly what they deserve.
In today's terms, anyting with the word out in it is, more than likely, gay-related. I'd suspect that instant camaraderie refers to quick and easy access to partners who are looking for promiscuous, anonymous hookups for sex.
Selling your home and moving is an empty threat. The property will sell to someone else and the property tax will continue to roll in. The only way to have an effect, would be to do something to drive property values down in your area. This of course hurts you as well. Or you could threaten to stay, and vote and or run for the opposition party.
I guess "Shut up and sing" was too much of an idea for them to ponder, and now they can try "actions have consequences" for extra credit.
Sending the Chamber of Commerce a letter telling them Banff wins might do it.
That doesn’t make sense.
But, but, but, sweet Georgie McGoverment just said they should be impeached.
Everybody wants to get a Hollywood 15 minutes of fame with LSM by attacking Bush/Cheney.
vaudine
What specifically doesn't make sense?
