The infallible Washington Times reports that up for sale is one of the most famous scenes of infantilism in the 20th century, "Woodstock." Actually, what is on the block is the late Max Yasgur's New York farm, 38 acres of which were used for the 1969 Woodstock music festival that hagiographers for the "1960s Generation" have ever since boomed as a pivotal event in American history. Such rock singers as Jimi Hendrix and Richie Havens got together before a stupefied crowd of some 500,000 eternal children to sing of peace, and freedom, and mind-numbing substances, even the most feeble of which have now been shown to be extremely deleterious to intellect and spirit. Better it would be to inhale Marlboros than to fool with the proscribed substances that eventually killed or demented many of the singers and attendees in that famous field.
As for "peace and freedom," wars have continued and the specific war that the troubadours of Woodstock had in mind ended only when our Democratic-controlled Congress broke an American pledge to send support to embattled South Vietnamese forces. The North Vietnamese communists beat them. .... Drunk and disorderly rockers never pacified any region I know of, and many have lived irritable and belligerent lives, leaving children and other loved ones in a hell of a mess. ........... As I have been noting of late, the aging 1960s generation -- divided as it has always been by its left-wing and right-wing -- is now facing its political swan song. The Republicans and the Democrats will probably nominate members of this generation to battle in 2008 one more time. Now the face-off is on again, probably with Hillary opposing Rudy.

That’s another thing I don’t like about Rudy, I too get the sense his power comes from his authoritarian personality type, for a Christian, this doesn’t thrill me. He won’t rule from the perspective of a godly man, rather he will rule from the authortarian side of his personality. Personally, that doesn’t thrill me.
The one thing I don’t get in all this election stuff is why didn’t the Bush administration make any push at all to help with the next candidate? He hasn’t come out for ANYONE at this point and it doesn’t seem like he is the slightest bit interested...I am very supportive of President Bush, but I admit that he really could have helped here if he had but simply formulated a plan of action. I love Dick Cheney, but for all the changes that occurred in the 2nd Bush administration, the one we really needed heading into 2008 was a VP that was preparing to run on the next ticket.
I wish Fred Thompson would announce his intentions soon. I would like to back him but getting tired of waiting. If he doesn’t announce by Labor Day I will choose another Republican candidate.

Your comments about Bush are interesting, I don’t know why this is true, maybe it’s because he feels his presidency is under attack and he is in the middle of a war that we need to win, so maybe it isn’t a priority to him right now. Plus, it’s still early. Maybe he’s not sure yet who he would like to see win. Right now, I would like to see Fred and Mitt together, but I don’t know if that will be possible. I did listen today to Savage on the radio and he said it was possible that someone would come out from nowhere and we don’t even know who that person is yet. Something needs to happen. Even though I like the idea of Fred and Mitt, the truth is, I really don’t know a lot yet about either. I still think it’s early too.

That was bad planning from the get-go, we all knew that Hillary was going to want to run in 2008 yet Bush delibertly picked a VP who from the start made it clear he had no interest in being President. Heck, we were just lucky that Chenney made it to the finish line without having a heart attack, let alone him running for President. That was probably an irresponsible choice on the part of the GOP, they knew what we would eventually have to face, and they made no prepartion for it at all. It’s too bad.

I agree with election analysis. Guiliani would be hard to beat in the general election unless Bloomberg enters the race. Bloomberg might attract some moderates who are critical for Guiliani's victory.

No way. The former mayor of NYC against the senator from NY. Rudy won’t be the nominee. That will become more and more evident as the campaign heats up. Rudy has so much personal baggage that he should have a sky cap detail wherever he goes.
No, a lot of people don't care about politics until a few months before an election. That doesn't mean they don't care about the issues, just that they aren't hardcore political junkies.

Giuliani has the least chance of any Republican of winning the general election. All one has to do is look how far behind he is in fundraising compared to the Democrats to figure that out.
A candidate that results in millions of his own party staying home or not being enthused about his candidacy has very little chance of winning a general election.

I'm saying that Rudy will have a tough time taking a majority of Texas delegates in the primaries.
It all depends on how many independents Giuliani can pick up. The 2008 general election will most likely be determined by moderate independents. Giuliani is the strongest Republican candidate among that group. If Giuliani couldn't offset the likely conservative defections with these moderates, you would be correct that he would have little chance.
