For the money, I don't think it does that badly.

I sure wouldn't want anyone I love in this thing if it crashes...

I think the damage to the passenger compartment can be described as "catastrophic".

What did they make that thing out of? Aluminum foil, cardboard, what?

“I just can’t imagine what would happen to a poor person if that was going 70-80 mph on the expressway. I would never want a car designed by the Chicoms.”

That assumes it could hit 70-80 on the highway!

You didn't watch the video?

The passenger compartment was basically obliterated. There was visible crumpling all the way back to the TRUNK! A rear seat passenger might have survived in the right rear seat (opposite the barrier), but an air bag would have made zero difference to the driver in this one. At FORTY miles an hour . . . . !

It would be almost comical, if I wasn't thinking of all the poor Chinese driving these deathtraps.

Probably you would have to drive it off a cliff to get up to 70-80 mph.

End result would be about the same, though, I think.

I wouldn’t know about that. Polytech M14 receivers are fairly highly regarded. Never heard any complaints about the metallurgy there.

Now, tell the REST of the story ... (like, you know: the Polytech M14 bolts?)

The “Chery” actually liquifies upon impact. I have never seen anything like this. The utterly crushed crash dummy vanishes into the debris field.

They like to put that anti-freeze stuff in toothpaste and other things so don’t forget the windows made of anti-freeze.

LOL!

This one's gonna be too much for Leroy and his trusty dent-puller! They don't MAKE a big enough bucket of Bondo.

forgot to add... here’s my comment on youtube for the fanboy nhutvu

“Hey, how much is the Chinese communist party and Chery paying you to be their fan-boy?

They should stick to making 1911 clones and MAK-90’s, like NORINCO, at least the steel used in those products is decent and they work for their intended purposes.”

lol.. nhutvu is such a chicom puppet.

The crash test videos for their cars are very sobering. There are American and European cars made 30+ years ago that would fare better in a similar collision. A friend of mine had as his first car a 1980 Oldsmobile. The car was the size of an aircraft carrier and built like a tank; you could fit Prius in the trunk of that car.

If China wants to become a major force in auto exports, it does have to address these issues. That's how free markets work. The consumer has the final say (most of it anyway).

I believe they will address safety and quality issues to become a major exporter of autos.
