Great life achievement by Bonds. He just happens to be an jerk and hard to take for the fans of baseball.

Now can we all ignore Barry Bonds?

The next big event in his career will be five years after he retires, when he is eligible for the Hall of Fame. By then we’ll know if he ever was indicted for lying to the grand jury investigating steroids, whether that George Mitchell report said anything damning about Barry, or whether he had any further legal troubles. And the baseball writers who vote for membership in the Hall of Fame will have the five more years of perspective on the steroid era in baseball.

The criteria used to elect members to the Hall of Fame include sportsmanship and character, and what impacts a player has had on the sport, not simply statistical achievements. So it’s possible that Bonds will not be elected to the Hall of Fame.

Amazing accomplishment.

I don't get the folks saying it doesn't count because he may have used steroids.

Lots of Baseball players have used steroids and they didn't do this.

I bet a fair number of the pitchers who tossed these balls to Bonds did steroids as well.

(plus the obligatory YouTube mocking)

Uhh, where's the obligatory YouTube mocking?

That's why I clicked on this thread.

Here is the best news . . . Alex Rodriguez hit his 500th home run the other night. He was 32 years, 8 days old. When Barry Bonds was 32 years, 8 days old, he had only hit 320 home runs.

Go A-Rod!!!!

Listened to ESPN Racist Radio morons this morning. White loser recited his top 5 “of all time” players, who were all black (Mays-Aaron-Bonds...). When he dared to mention Babe Ruth, the idiot black co-host said “nope...he never played against Negro leaguers—doesn’t count. What a joke. So Hank Aaron, who hit where the CF fence was 402 (and remember how they kept moving the fence in at Atlanta for Aaron—how is that not as bad as steroids?), is to be compared against Ruth, whose CF fence was 468??? Aaron, who trailed Ruth’s career average by 40 points. Aaron—who took 100 years to get to 755, while Ruth, had he played as long as Aaron, would have had 1,667 home runs!!! But because he didn’t play black pitchers it all means nothing??? This kind of racism is on ESPN nearly every day now. Mickey Mantle didn’t even make the top 10, even though he played against blacks—and his stats blew Aaron’s out of the water.
