Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul began running television campaign ads Tuesday in Iowa.
The spots for the Texas congressman began just days before a straw poll in the first presidential nominating state.
The 30-second ads will be in rotation in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Sioux City.
Campaign spokesman Jesse Benton declined to reveal the cost.
The ad features Paul speaking to a crowd of supporters while an announcer repeats the Texan's fiscally conservative campaign themes.
Various statements flash across the screen, including "Stop the national I.D. Card."
Benton said the ad, the first of two for TV, will be accompanied by similar radio spots.
Perhaps you don’t realize a few things about my part-time job.
The Texas Renaissance Festival is the largest of its kind in the nation. Some 300 performers and another 500 vendors and shopkeepers entertain upwards of 50,000 patrons each weekend, eight weekends in a row, October and November.
There are no dragons, unless you count the patrons who dress up like that, and we would never fight with them. Our combat, like our dancing, is tightly choreographed; we have stage-combat-certified instructors supervising us at all times.
We are drawn from all walks of life; not all of us are smelly dope-smokin’ hippies. At least half of us, like me, have respectable everyday day jobs. Probably some play D&D. I know some play World of Warcraft, since I play with them. One of my Rennies is a day-trader. One’s a steelworker. Many are teachers.
Many of the people I’ve met at TRF, like most on FR, have become friends in real life. They are genuinely good people, and I’m proud to be considered talented enough to have earned a spot in their ranks.
Say, wasn't Lyndon LaRouche a Trotskyite? Funny that the trolls keep comparing Paul to LaRouche...reminds me of the Clinton's tactic of accusing others of what they were doing in order to divert attention from their own crimes.
Never been banned and you can take that to the bank. My sign up date is the date I started. There is a high rate of banning amongst Paul supporters though. I wonder why?
Some of us (constitutionalists/Ron Paul supporters) have realized that the “new media” means that rules that pertained to the “old media” are in the process of being re-written.
What was yours?
Well I wish you well and hope you have a long career here bashing republican candidates and fellow longtime conservative posters. You do it so well. Personal attacks are cool.
Israel has nukes. The only thing recent administrations have done for Israel are host phony peace talks and photo ops in the Rose Garden and RESTRAIN Israel from retaliating against attacks on their citizens and preventing more terrorism.
One thing is for sure, we are giving $20 million worth of military aid to the Saudis... 17 of whom flew airplanes loaded with jet fuel and American citizen hostages into the WTC and the Pentagon. Are these people our friends?
We give the murderous Palestinians US made weapons that citizens in NY, CA and MA paid for with their tax dollars, but can’t posses because they are illegal. And the Palestinians will use them to murder more Israelis.
President Ron Paul wouldn’t give foreign military aid to Saudi Arabia or Palestine. President Ron Paul would use his office to push for reforms of gun control. President Ron Paul would do everything in his power to remove us from the United Nations and kick them off of US soil. President Ron Paul would streamline the Federal government and reduce entitlement programs. President Ron Paul would work to transition us from the Income Tax. President Ron Paul would put US military on the border to protect America.
These things are certain.
If you're talking about DreamsofPolycarp, I suspect his banning had more to do with the term "sand monkeys" than anything. I admired DoP's writing and thinking, but I can't condone talk like that.
Of course, I don't see into the minds of the mods, so all I have are my suspicions. If an admin has the time, perhaps you could fill us in?
I saw a pickup covered with Ron Paul posters try to get past a police barricade outside Soldier Field in Chicago where the Dem candidates were meeting with the AFL-CIO folks.
I can’t repeat it, it had something to do with Bill Clinton and monica, really you can’t even say it on the radio with out getting a fine. ;-)
Bet it didn't stop you from drooling over the pictures though.
Xenalyte, how's the part time gig going? You do realise that i'm really jealous...but not too much call for Army of Robert the Bruce reenactors.
I appreciate that, and thanks for the kind words.
If you feel like it, FReepmail me your approximate location - there might be a Renfaire near you! They’re lots of fun, especially the more family-friendly ones.
Do you know any FReepers who do Revolutionary War reenactments? My friend and I have talked about getting into it.
I clicked the source (KWTX) , then scrolled my cursor over the words (presidential candidate) in the story, an ad to meet Obama popped up.
Now thats what I call coverage.
see my post #69.
It seems to me that a congressman should not propose something he does not support. That is not a straightforward way to operate. It looks like your Saint Ron Paul has a bit of a devious side.
What does he care - he doesn’t pay taxes anyway, right?
