Today President Bush returned to the White House from Camp David where he and the First Lady spend the weekend and where he met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai

Mrs. Bush Congratulates Barbara Morgan, Astronaut on Space Shuttle Endeavour and Former Teacher

This morning, Mrs. Laura Bush called Barbara Morgan, an astronaut and former teacher who will travel to space for the first time on the flight of the Space Shuttle Endeavour to the International Space Station.

Mrs. Bush expressed congratulations from one schoolteacher to another and noted that she and the President appreciate Ms. Morgan's commitment to America's space program, to teaching, and to students. Mrs. Bush concluded the call noting that Americans-and lots of excited teachers and students-will be watching the mission with a lot of pride.

Ms. Morgan served as the "Teacher in Space" alternate to Christa McAuliffe for the 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger mission. Following the Challenger tragedy, Morgan continued her ties with NASA and eventually left her job as an elementary school teacher in Idaho to become a full-time astronaut in 1998.

The Space Shuttle Endeavour is scheduled to launch August 8, 2007

I could not believe it. I just got home from the grocery store to get me a watermelon. I sat down at the computer and there it was====too much temptation!! But, this watermelon is soooooo goooood! It is really hot here and will be the rest of the week--high 90's with heat indexes in the 100's. Think I will just stay inside and eat watermelon! My granddaughter and I have had bad headaches for the past few days so I remembered that we were not getting enough liquid so called my daughter to see if that may have been what caused hers.

Did I tell y'all that I am going to be a great grandmother in March???? It is not the way we would have wanted it but we are going to have a baby to spoil!!!! Plus, I am young enough to really, really enjoy him/her.

Hi, Mama. I’m glad you agree with my tagline, but take a look at tajgirvan’s post at #3, and say a prayer for the kidnapped Koreans.

The last post in #8 is interesting, I wonder what the photographer had to do to take that?

Lovely picture of the day of Laura, and thanks for posting the dose Kaslin.
