PARK RIDGE, Ill. - First the city fathers tried bolting it right onto the old street sign. Then they ordered the special vandal-proof steel fasteners and super-strong epoxy. But nothing stopped the souvenir hunters from swiping the little green "Rodham Corner" sign when the sun set on Wisner Street.
Last year, officials here moved the marker 15 feet up, onto a light pole. It's nearly impossible to spot unless you've made a pilgrimage to 235 Wisner, the faux-Georgian brick house where Hillary Rodham grew up.
"So far no one's gotten to the sign way up there, but they will," city manager Tim Schuenke said.
Clinton is the town's best-known daughter (Harrison Ford is its most famous son), so it's hard to find a gathering these days where she's not at least a fleeting topic of conversation.
But Clinton doesn't enjoy any home field advantage on her block, where she grew up a pugnacious, precocious and uncommonly well-read tomboy.
There's civic pride about her accomplishments, and an appreciation of her reportedly positive impact on Wisner Street real estate values. But when it comes to presidential politics, ambivalence blankets the block like its broad, emerald lawns.

“Rodham Corner”? How quaint. It sounds like they are trying to give her a sweeter image. (GAG!)
I don’t advocate vandalism generally, but someone with a paint ball gun in Park Ridge could really make my day.
Rotten Corner would be closer to the truth...but she can’t handle the truth!
Hillary’s politics are rough, unlady like, and pretty tasteless. President Bush’s politics are a class act compared to Clinton’s and the left. Bush does not bash anyone let along call people names.....the left does relentlessly. Hillary is a far cry from being a Margaret Thatcher – is not a leader nor can she represent America beyond the senate.
Of course he’s called people names! He’s human and makes mistakes. Remember the “Clymer” incident?
Just make sure that some priest performs an exorcism in the house where tht Hell Creature grew up!
What home town is this? Arkansas, NY or Illinois?
She has an accent and a persona for each place she’s “from”.
She didn’t really stay in this town much anyway. She claims she was babysitting illegal immigrant’s children upstate most of the time during her teen years.
I am giving 10 to 1 odds this is a hate crime, not a souvenir hunt.
Now if we could train a few birds to mark it up for us.
