CALLER: I want a complete, impartial, and totally independent investigation of the events of September 11, 2001 . Im tired of this bogus garbage about terrorism. Ask Michael Meacher about how he feels about this bogus war on terrorism. Can you comment on that please?
HON. DR. RON PAUL: Well, that would be nice to have. Unfortunately, we dont have that in place. IT WILL BE A LITTLE BIT BETTER NOW WITH THE DEMOCRATS NOW IN CHARGE OF OVERSIGHT. But you know, for top level policy theres not a whole lot of difference between the two policies so a real investigation isnt going to happen. But I think we have to keep pushing for it. And like you and others, we see the investigations that have been done so far as more or less cover-up and no real explanation of what went on.

“He doesn’t believe in nationbuilding and endorses “a humble foreign policy” (the same positions our president campaigned on in 2000 before he lost his way).”
GWB was referring to Billy-Jeff’s “humanitarian” missions. He “lost his way” when this country was attacked.
We went to war with Iraq, we won that rather swiftly and now must stay to defend the birth of their democracy (you know that little thing that will change the face of the entire ME). War, nation building. They kind of have to go hand and hand or the results are disasterous. That is reality, something Ron Paul has no use for.
There is an article today in the WSJ/Opinion Journal that Paul should probably read. Iraq/Afhganistan has nothing to do with Iran’s regime desperation does it? http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110010434
“Because it is simply unbelievable that all of the intelligence gathering agencies of the United States of America were not doing their jobs.”
Not if you know anything about them. Read up on what has happened to them since the evil ones brought Nixon down.
Two Israeli girl scouts could ruinate the whole shiny-loafered, Ivy League liberal pack of them.
Chris Matthews used to bash Clinton every night too (heck, I watched it everynight it was so enjoyable). Don’t care for him too much when Clinton left office though.
Poor Chris and Alex. :(
Yeah it is the boxcutters the NSA is watching for......not the financial support being wired here to pay the bills of those who wish to do harm on our soil.... or the money being wired out of thise country to those doing harm overseas.
They just want to know who is buying boxcutters. Brilliant!!
Slap some sense into him is far different than beating him up. But you cling to the hate whine because you can’t defend Paul’s statement here and deflection is all you have.
WAITAMINUTE... I thought it was the eeeeeeeeevil Joos/Vatican/neocons/capitalist/Amish that was responsible for 9-11?
Again, let’s put Malkin aside for a moment and respond to what Paul said please.
Anytime you are ready.

You’re not known for your sense of humor are you?
You almost had me going until that last bit.
I’ll inject a few comments here.
The Republican House had become complacent and corrupt, little different than expected from a Democratic House.
In order to win back the Congress, the democrats had to run real conservatives in key districts. The dems now have a significant bluedog caucus that can side with republican conservatives to derail any legislation.
In other words, there is a conservative element within the democrat party that wields extraordinary power much as Senator Lieberman is a more powerful Senator as an independent.
One thing about Ron Paul is he tells the truth. He must have meant that republicans in the last Congress allowed alot to be swept under the rug. If that is what he meant then I can believe that.
My problem with Ron Paul is his insistence on bringing the troops home immediately. That would give Al Quaeda victory in Iraq and it would not stop their advance in the world.
Whether Ron Paul likes it or not, we are at war with Al Quaeda. A non-interventionist foreign policy is a wonderful goal but it is idealistic. Certainly America needs to distance itself more from globalist elements that conspire to involve the US in unnecessary wars, but for now the focus is on defeating Al Quaeda and rumors from Iraq show that is happening.
The irony in that post is probably lost on you.
That is an easy one, although you and the rest of the republicodhimmis here won't be able to choke it down. Ron Paul, like me, and like historical conservatives IS NOT slave to the idea that "republicans are good and democrats are bad." He rather believes in the corruptibility of all people, especially those in power. He believes, like me, that the recent Republican congress was only better than the scum on the left side of the aisle by a matter of degrees, not by nature. They were crooked, corrupt, lying, dissumulating power grubbing thieves. If the 9/11 tragedy had occurred under a dem watch, they would have busted their collective gonads howling for an investigation of why such a thing should have been allowed to occur. Because it did not, they had no interest in anything that might be impartial and might reflect on their unsullied republican angel wings.
The sad thing about that is the the REAL kool aid drinkers, the republibots here, are so stupid they just swallow it down without a second thought. The fact is that we are USUALLY better off with our executive, legislative and judicial powers divided than united. Less evil is able to be accomplished......, or covered up.
The truly sad thing about all this is the mindless braying of the current generation of republicans who are convinced that they are true blue patriots because they pull one lever (by the way, I can't recall ever voting for a democrat in a major election) because REPUBLICANS ARE GOOD AND DEMOCRATS ARE EVIL. Let me say again that I believe those people are NOT conservatives, they are NOT patriots, and they are NOT defenders of the values we were founded on (number one of which was liberty, which demands limited power in gov't).
What he (Ron Paul) said was reasonable, rational, true, and consonant with 200 + years of political history in the USA. It only sounds like some horrific epithet of blasphemy to one who has convinced himself that democrats are evil (no problem there!) AND that Republicans are virtuous. This is tomfoolery and piddle. It is the arrested logic of a four year old and the simplistic pious drivel of one who wishes there were white hats and black hats and the secret is aligning with the white hats. The truth of the matter is that all of them are grey. Ron Paul caucuses with the Republicans because [drumroll here for the dhimmi crowd] AT PRESENT THEY HAVE A PLATFORM WHICH DOES LESS HARM TO FREEDOM. They are not the saviors of our culture, nor of our heritage. People who put their trust in them are fools. They are fallible and failed, corruptible and corrupt men and women. If there is one element of the true blue faithful on FR which is simply howlingly stupid, it is the insistence on posting this kind of nonsense.
The best you can say for this crowd is that they are traditional values fascists. The very fact that you would have to ask such a mindless question and be goggle eyed in horror that someone would say such a thing shows that you have not only drunk the kool aid, you are immersed in it and looking at the world through the pitcher.
Our founders were wiser than this, and would have been aghast at such idiocy.
I went ahead and pinged the admin, because I am curious to see if this is to be branded heresy among some of the communicants only, or having such ideas are truly inimical to free republic itself. If such statements are grounds for a ban, I guess it is better to know now. It is the root of any disagreement I have had with anyone on FR, and if it is intolerable, better to know now, I guess.
Of course not. They want dirt on the Republicans, and a a tool to allow them a return to power. This has nothing to do with a "conspiracy" or other such crap. This is simply politics and the desire of those in power to excuse, and those out of power to accuse.
My point is that when this process is allowed to go forth, even the lies and the calumny that go back and forth tend to make cover up (of laziness and ineptitude, not of some vast conspiracy) impossible. That is all Ron Paul is saying.
To try to make it into some trutherism is either stupid or dishonest. Take your pick.
Just keep insulting us, because you have a huge majority and are bound to win by an overwhelming margin and don’t need all the votes you can get.
Not to speak for Maeve, but be honest . . . you don’t engage in debate on Paul threads. You post the punch graphic.
That’s not projection. At a certain point, which we have clearly passed, it’s unoriginality.
We’re not all horrible spellers.
