Trutheriness and Ron Paul (Michelle Malkin) [Ron Paul Says The Darnedest Things!]
Michelle Malkin ^ | May 19, 2007 | Michelle Malkin

CALLER: I want a complete, impartial, and totally independent investigation of the events of September 11, 2001 . I’m tired of this bogus garbage about terrorism. Ask Michael Meacher about how he feels about this bogus war on terrorism. Can you comment on that please?

HON. DR. RON PAUL: Well, that would be nice to have. Unfortunately, we don’t have that in place. IT WILL BE A LITTLE BIT BETTER NOW WITH THE DEMOCRATS NOW IN CHARGE OF OVERSIGHT. But you know, for top level policy there’s not a whole lot of difference between the two policies so a real investigation isn’t going to happen. But I think we have to keep pushing for it. And like you and others, we see the investigations that have been done so far as more or less cover-up and no real explanation of what went on.

QED means: The use of this phrase therefore announces the completion of a proof of a previously asserted claim.

I missed the "proof" part that was supposed to follow your assertion. If George Bush had proof, wouldn't he present it to shut the Democrats and the ant-war crowd up?

One thing I’ve noticed about those who don’t accept that Islamic terrorists were behind Sept. 11 is that you have such an inflated view of the power of the U.S. government that you cannot accept that it was not omniscient. The government is composed of people, not supermen.

Vote for Fred... According to some here, he is the devil incarnate...

Personally, I think Fred is interesting and I'm waiting to see what he says. What's wrong with a large candidate field to choose from?

There are some Fred-bashers on FR but relatively few among RP's supporters that I've seen. The Fred Folk seem to be getting more grief from the Duncan supporters and the Romney supporters from what I've seen.

I think that we should conduct ourselves here in such a way that it doesn't become impossible for any of us to support the eventual nominee (except the leftwing mayor). I always throw in that caveat for Rudi but I said many of those things about Bush right up until election day 2000 and I ended up voting for him anyway. Because I want to be a loyal Republican voter. I also like Duncan and Tancredo and follow Romney's threads (sometimes critical, sometimes complimentary).

At any rate, when FR turns into a circular firing squad, we all lose. And FreeRepublic loses (members, donations, recruits).

FR's like a family. If you're tormenting your wife or kids or brothers and sisters, belittling them or trying to drive them out, why should you be surprised when your house ends up empty with only you sitting there alone and bitter?

Another thing that should be pointed out is that many, if not most, of these Paul-haters are a bitter Giuliani remnant. Many of them pretend to support or lean toward Fred but, mark my words, they will eventually fly under their true colors.

The Paul-haters also have at least one Arab among them. You may have also noticed how many of them are posting that they're drinking while posting on these threads. And it shows too.

RP is not a 9/11 conspiracy moron, I will say that for him, it would be better if those crazies were put to bed so to speak and IMO, that is what he was getting at in the interview.

If one wishes to slam Ron Paul his Iraq cut and leave position is good fodder, but dipping into the realm of projection doesn’t hold water.

"Debunked already. When asked point-blank about any association with or belief in Trutherism, Ron Paul responded: "Absolutely not"

So what?

Same as the Left. Listen to them trash this country and undermine it's security at every turn and then listen to their: "Absolutely not!" when you ask them if they are anti American.

Truthers are below al-Qaeda. Truthers are below child rapists.

Oh, I agree with you he’s a nut case, but his libertarian streak meshes well with the South Park conservatives and he serves as a beacon for all those who were disappointed in the Bush Administration.

His support won’t be great, but it’s sending a notice to the rest of the GOP.

What has Fred done to deserve this worship?

He says a lot of right things, but so did the GOP for the last six years.

Kooks are free to believe what they want in this country. It's called freedom of speech and, in case you haven't heard, this forum champions the First. People like you, for instance, are free to say the strangest things. Conspiracy kooks or nutjobs are simply not comparable to murderous terrorist gangs or those who rape children.

But thanks for proving my point so well about the Paul-haters.

No, Ron Paul isn’t a truther and this is a terrible hatchet job by Maulkin. The GOP establishment is really getting worried.

Go Ron!

No, Ron Paul isn't a truther at all is he?

No, he isn't, and he's been quite explicit about that. Remember this quote that drew so much attention?

Have you ever read the reasons they attacked us? They attack us because we've been over there; we've been bombing Iraq for 10 years.

What does that tell you about who Paul thinks was behind the attacks? That it was Osama Bin Ladin and Al Qaeda.

Now that you have been set straight, I expect that you will not repeat this nonsense. Of course, I'm assuming you weren't already aware of this before you posted this thread. I mean, that would be dishonest. You weren't aware of this already were you?

Well the guy is devoid of any real solutions to the situation we as a nation are facing today. Pull the troops home and become Fortress America sounds good on paper but it would take a whole lot of re-thinking on our part as a country to even try to approach our current status in this way. For one thing the bad guys ain’t interested in settling for the rest of the world but want to attack us here on our own soil. Pretending they’re going away is a dumb and dangerous concept !!!

How will the paulettes spin this

That is one of the biggest problems with Ron Paul in a nutshell. Even if Ron Paul does not believe the Truther ideology, he keeps misspeaking and making it look like he does. His supporters are constantly having to explain to us what Ron Paul really meant to say or what he was thinking when he said what he said. Do we really want a President that needs an English interpreter to tell the public what the President really meant to say everytime he opens his mouth?

I ask this with true sincerity. How can Ron Paul claim he has nothing to do with the Truther movement given that he is a regular guest (and seems to be on friendly terms) with Alex Jones? Alex Jones is completely off the deep end with his 9/11 conspriacies, so if Paul doesn't believe them, then why does he seem to legitimize those views by appearing regularly on Alex's nutty show?

Personally, I say a pox on both your houses. I can't stand the holier-than-thou, support the GOP at all costs crowd. I don't doubt there are things that the government has hidden from us regarding the events of 9/11. On the other hand, I think that the truthers are crazier than a shithouse rat. There's ample evidence that the basic facts about the hijackers, their religion and motives, and the collapse of the towers are exactly as they seem to be. I just can't get behind someone who would pander to this group. I'm voting for None Of The Above.

"What has Fred done to deserve this worship?"

It's not worship....

Simply put it's a belief that he can beat the dem candidate no matter who she is...

We here at the freerepublic have a choice...

Beat Hillary or not... If you want to support Romney or mcCain or the mayor...

go ahead at your (our own) peril..

We have one chance to defeat this nightmare... Vote for Fred.....

What podium would that be?

The libertarian or independent podium. This way he can be true to himself and others. Now, that you mentioned GWB, I agree, everybody has the right to criticize him even if that person is a “true” Republican or Conservative. And, you just mentioned some very good reasons for it.

As far the libertarian platform goes, some do mach with the conservative ideas, some are isolationalist, but on social issues they are very theoretical and way far to the left.

Ron Paul is a RINO.

The way the Republican party is these days, that's a compliment.
