Population levels across many parts of the developed world are declining, but this is particularly noticeable in former Eastern Bloc states where the number of children being born has plummeted within a generation.

I think Spain has the lowest rate of 1.1, which Mark Steyn says no nation has ever recovered from.

In many of these nations, things are going badly, and many people have concluded that it’s not a good world to bring a child into.

I would think that the insidious modern day holocaust of abortion is taking a toll on Western Culture in general, besides the effects of the disease of the spirit caused by cheapening the value of human life. I had heard several years ago that abortions in Russia were at significantly high levels per capita.

I see it more as a sign that a country has industrialized and achieved some degree of stability. High birth rates correlate to high-poverty, low technology countries.

Do the math. A birthrate of 1.1 means the population halves every 30 years. That isn’t stability. That is collapse. If you were in a collapsing building, would you refer to it as “stable”? A massive elderly population’s mooching off a small young population taxed at oppressive rates is not a stable pattern.

Stable, developed nations have high inward migration along with longer lifespans and what not. They are not going to disappear anytime soon.

I don't think anybody is advocating birth rates like Niger which is 50.16 per 1,000 population.

Birth Rate

Fertility Rate

No, I would hope not. There is a lot of confusion over using birth vs. fertility rates though...and I wish the press would stick with one or the other.

"I see it more as a sign that a country has industrialized and achieved some degree of stability."

Yeah, who needs children when you've got industry and 'stability'? Surely the 50 million European abortions per year haven't a thing to do with their serious population decline. And surely abortion isn't related to the need for European nations to import labor and tax payers from Islamic nations. Seriously, I think industry and 'stability', (as you call it), have created narcissism, selfishness and greed, which in turn has created the lack of babies, which in turn has created the need to import millions of Third World miscreants to fill the void. You cannot get away from it, there is a heavy price to pay for abortion, a spriitual and temporal price.

Nope. Some people will choose that in any society. We just live in one where you have the luxury of practicing it more.

The current fertility rate in Spain is 1.29 children born/woman (2007 est.).

It’s a race to convert radical Islam to liberal, green and globalist causes before the proponents of said causes are obliterated by simple demographics.

The abortion rates in Europe are bgenerally lower than in the US. Our fertility rate is 2.09 births per female, just at replacement level, but our population growth is .89% among the highest in the world among developed coutries, primarily due to immigration, legal and illegal.

Pakistanis have been flooding through Central Asia and piling up in Ukraine trying to get to Western Europe. Europe won’t take them, so they get stuck in Ukraine.

Yes, you are right.

The west is nihilistic.

Allah himself could not have found a better way to supplant the Europeans.

We are not doing much better over here.
