The Dems Get Surprised on Iraq
Real Clear Politics ^ | August 02, 2007 | Jack Kelly

Posted on 08/02/2007 4:12:51 PM PDT by bnelson44

Rep. Nancy Boyda (D-KS) walked out of a hearing of the House Armed Services Committee because she couldn't stand to listen to what retired General Jack Keane, former vice chief of staff of the Army, was saying.

"There is only so much you can take until we in fact had to leave the room for a while...after so much frustration of having to listen to what we listened to," Ms. Boyda explained to reporters later.

What did Gen. Keane say to so upset Ms. Boyda? He'd visited contested neighborhoods in Baghdad in February, and again three months later:

"What you see is a stark contrast. All the schools are open. The markets are teeming with people...There is an attempt to provide essential services to the population where in '06 there were none."

"Those kinds of comments will in fact show up in the media and further divide this country instead of saying, here's the reality of the problem," Rep. Boyda said. "And people, we have to come together and deal with the reality of this issue."

It is difficult to say which is the more remarkable: that Ms. Boyda, whose military experience is zero, imagines she knows "the reality of this issue" better than does Gen. Keane; or that she is appalled by good news from Iraq.

When this is over, and our boys and girls get back, I hope 1/3 of them run for office.

You can't expect Congress to care about our security when 2/3 of them are bought by either Soros or the Saudis.

How about sour grapes?

Thank you for the service to our Country.

What condition on the ground exist that say we are defeated in Iraq and we should leave?

I am not putting our Nations sacrifice down in any manner. We have lost 3,500 plus troops in four years and we lost 290,000 in four years of WWII and we won the big one.

It appears to me as if our Troops have done an outstanding job in Iraq. I am dang proud of them all.

May God Bless our Troops and their Commander.

"The Dems Get Surprised on Iraq"

Perhaps they were surprised and were having trouble trying to sound rational for a few days, but, They now have the "Blame Bush for the Bridge Collapse" talking points to harp on and use as a diversion steering the minds of the public away from their "Bad" news coming from Iraq.

Is this woman nuts or what?

You've expressed my thoughts exactly.

Democrats have a "unique" outlook on life. Their comments on the Clarence Thomas hearings had little in common with what I saw while watching most of the hearings. I left the Liberal party when I saw that Democrats and the MSM were (deliberately?) out of touch with reality.

If Democratic politicians can't stand the truth, they have no business leading the rest of the country.

Truman pulled our troops out of an unstable S. Korea, prematurely, in 1949, four years after we had freed it from the Japanese.

When N. Korea invaded the South in 1950, Truman sent troops back to Korea. If Truman had kept the troops in Korea in 1949, there would, most likely, not have been a Korean War

It is difficult to say which is the more remarkable: that Ms. Boyda, whose military experience is zero, imagines she knows "the reality of this issue" better than does Gen. Keane; or that she is appalled by good news from Iraq.

The Democrats want as many US serviceman-filled body bags as possible in order to gain a political advantage over George Bush and the Republicans. The Democrats see the war as little more than a weapon for them to use in their sick lust for political power.

Similarly, the rats will do anything to tank the economy, because when the economy tanks and people lose their jobs, homes, and savings, they become dependent on government handouts and eventually become addicted to government. And, just as drug addicts keep going back to their dealers for a fix, government addicts will likewise keep going back to THEIR dealers. That would be Democrat politicians who are always happy to trade handouts for votes.

So, sabotaging the economy would not be suicidal for the Democrats - - it is, in fact, what they strive for. It's job security. This ain't rocket surgery.....

Democrats want as many dead US servicemen and financially ruined people as possible. How friggin low do you have to be to be a scumbag Democrat?

Yes, it will take MANY VOICES to state the truth, but consider : we “failed” in vietnam because we let the lib-left america-haters win the propaganda war, ie : HANOI JANE et al. Now we’re letting them do it AGAIN! WHY?

Why can’t we hear the positive side of the story? The iraqi people HAPPY that saddam and his thugs are gone. HAPPY that their lives are improving. HAPPY that their own people are in the police forces, their own military. HAPPY that other than baghdad the people out in the countryside are finding out what “normal life” is like.

Sure, the msm will try to BURY you with the bad news, where’s the GOOD NEWS out of iraq/afghanistan? If there’s ever a need for Fox news to do a series of GOOD NEWS programs, it’s now. For once let’s have some honest BALANCE, a graphic picture, a sense of perspective and proportion from there.

We’ve let them HARP for 5 years on the glass being half empty, show everyone the glass that’s half full, and getting fuller by the day/week/month/year...

Things are changing slowly here, much faster in Iraq. Pray hard and tell the positive things that you know about to all of your friends. GOOD NEWS OUT OF IRAQ has been posted daily here on FR... each and every day. Even the lsm/dnc networks are starting to tell the truth... all but nbc... which is a division on moveon.org.

The dems have no business in our government in any case because for the most part they are so rabidly Anti-American and intent upon the destruction of her and her people. I will fight until my dying day to keep this country free.

The Democrats love to use negativity to wear down people.
It's hard to listen to their manufactured "gloom and doom" day after day.
I have to keep reminding myself that I need to do at least a little bit to counteract the onslaught of biased reporting, so that my children and grandchildren can have a chance, like I have, to live in a great country.

Ms. Boyda’s response is a perfect example of cognitive dissonance: the inability to recognize what one’s mind has previously excluded as possible.

The libs don't even see this as a war between the US and terrorists. To their self-consumed minds it's a political war between the conservatives and the liberals.

They can't even see to the future of their grandchildren: They can't see past their next election.

The nation can go to hell as long as they win an election.

Daily KOS is a blog along the lines of DU (Democrat Underground).

This week, Bill O'Reilly equated FR to a Right-Wing Hate site, alluding that it was the Right-Wing equivalent of Daily KOS.

This week (I believe this weekend), the Democrat Presidential candidates are going to attend the annual nutcase convention, aka, the annual Daily KOS gathering.

That's my understanding, but I'm sure if I'm in error in the summary, someone here who's more knowlegable on blogs will correct me.

It’s the great BELL CURVE of life : dividing line down the middle : on the left : all the LOSERS who get LEFT behind, on the right : all the WINNERS who chose the RIGHT path forward.

"Is this woman nuts or what? I just can’t explain how these people are getting elected. You would think that was the best news ever. People and a country are actually being helped. I think it proves that this woman does not care about anything but the downfall of our country and it’s people."

She is a Socialist first and an American second. Those who would stand in her ideological way must be discredited. That is all that is bubbling through this Useful Idiot's mind.
