The Dems Get Surprised on Iraq
Real Clear Politics ^ | August 02, 2007 | Jack Kelly

Posted on 08/02/2007 4:12:51 PM PDT by bnelson44

Rep. Nancy Boyda (D-KS) walked out of a hearing of the House Armed Services Committee because she couldn't stand to listen to what retired General Jack Keane, former vice chief of staff of the Army, was saying.

"There is only so much you can take until we in fact had to leave the room for a while...after so much frustration of having to listen to what we listened to," Ms. Boyda explained to reporters later.

What did Gen. Keane say to so upset Ms. Boyda? He'd visited contested neighborhoods in Baghdad in February, and again three months later:

"What you see is a stark contrast. All the schools are open. The markets are teeming with people...There is an attempt to provide essential services to the population where in '06 there were none."

"Those kinds of comments will in fact show up in the media and further divide this country instead of saying, here's the reality of the problem," Rep. Boyda said. "And people, we have to come together and deal with the reality of this issue."

It is difficult to say which is the more remarkable: that Ms. Boyda, whose military experience is zero, imagines she knows "the reality of this issue" better than does Gen. Keane; or that she is appalled by good news from Iraq.

A more ominous shift for Democrats occurred Monday night when four bigfoot journalists with impeccable liberal credentials — David Ignatius of the Washington Post; Michael Duffy of Time magazine; Kelly O’Donnell of NBC, and Gloria Borger of U.S. News & World Report — all said during a discussion on Chris Matthews’ MSNBC program that it would be a mistake to withdraw quickly from Iraq.

Only with the foaming-at-the-mouth Dhimmocrats would good news be bad news.

I was against the war from the start but we are there now. We owe it to our troops to allow them to finish the job they started. I believe the surge will do just that.

Unless of course the democrats find a way to surrender first.

They don't want to take the blame, the way they did for what happened after Vietnam (and quite rightly, thank you Uncle Walter for lying about Tet). The MSM looks determined that if there's a fall to be taken for post-Iraq events, it will be the Dems and Dems alone who take it.

Is this woman nuts or what? I just can’t explain how these people are getting elected. You would think that was the best news ever. People and a country are actually being helped. I think it proves that this woman does not care about anything but the downfall of our country and it’s people.

Signs and portents...Iraq is improving. I think Gen. Petraeus has been itching to tell these Dems off for quite a while. Bush seems pretty confident what will happen in September. Rope-a-dope? Seems likely.

I’d agree with your overall assessment, but I don’t think it has anything to do with gender.

Margaret Thacher had a bigger pair than either Reagan or GHW Bush did.

Ann Coulter wants to invade their countries and convert them to Christianity.

There are as many RINO males that are without a sack on this issue (Chuck Hagel, anyone?) than there are females of any political stripe.

Just imagine Dracula writhing in pain at the sight of the Crucifix...that’s how the Democrats are when ‘surprised’ with good news about Iraq.

The DNC, as an organization, is dedicated to the defeat of the US during a time of war. That is treason. Plain, pure, simple, treason.

For as long as this treason is tolerated, we will be in danger. This is the rotten weakness that our enemy feeds on. This is the stench of decay that draws the predators onto us.

It is only lack of honor and courage that allows this filth to continue.

If those whose duty it is to prosecute such offenders do not step up and fulfill their sworn duty, then it will eventually have to be a matter for enraged mobs.

The failure of the rule of law causes abandonment of that rule.

It would seem that the iraqi government is disintegrating but the iraqi people are just sick and tired of years of war/hatred. That’s why some sunni tribes are electing to go with the US forces, why iraqis themselves are coming forward w/info on alqaeda operatives. Thus to the shame of the demonrats it looks like the tipping point has already been reached. The iraqi PEOPLE are finally starting to come ALIVE, charting their own course against all enemies. As Gandhi said : murderers and thieves come and go, but truth and love are forever. It’s been a long and tortuous path for GWB but good/love is slowly overcoming evil/hate in iraq, and elsewhere as well.

some but surley not nearly as many...annie coulter herself is against women voting...simply because
....men are the natural agressors just the thing our nation needs: brave agressive men who have the will to build and the defend an american empire...then enabling the world to live in peace based on trade...

what we cannot have are reticent handwringers who cringe at the word islamo facist involved in the decison making mix.

....you’ll find way more of these people....on the other side of the aisle ...mostly females...and ‘males’ of the same mindset...

It is evident Rep. Boyda is on the wrong committee. Perhaps she could be put on the kool-aid prep/serving committee.

"THE FREE FLOW OF OIL AT MARKET PRICES....."

The ignorance of you antiwar people is phenomenal.

In the wake of 9-11, remember there was ONE (and only one) nation's leader who did the following:

Bankrolled terrorists repeatedly, and PUBLICLY BOASTED ABOUT IT.

Caused the deaths of 2 million people (that's 6,223/month for 27 years),

Invaded 3 different countries

Fired medium-range missles against civilian targets into 4 different countries

Used WMD against civilian populations,

Kicked out the UN inspection teams

Said he would fry his neighbors with WMD

Ignored 17 UN resolutions demanding he abide by HIS agreement in the truce that ended the 1991 Gulf War
