Just turned on the news. 35W bridge collapsed in the Mississippi River. Cars, trucks, semis.....

Fires burning, tanker trucks, at least one school bus, more than ten cars......

I do not fall into the trap of telling folks the only way they can recieve the blessing of God is to belong to a certain denomination of the Church that Paul described.

I was wondering if the MDOT didn’t have some traffic cameras near the bridge. Even the small metropolis of Des Moines has traffic cameras all over the freeways here.

This past weekend I was on the Hwy. 20 Julien Dubuque bridge in Dubuque, IA. It is a two-lane steel arch bridge about a mile long, built in 1943. I saw rusting bolts and decaying concrete on the bridge. This 2 lane bridge carries 50,000 cars daily. There are plans to make Hwy 20 a freeway through Iowa, Dubuque and northern Illinois, and they want to just add another 2 lane bridge next to this bridge, and keep this bridge in use. After seeing what happened yesterday, I wish they would just tear down that rickety thing!

I’m not saying either. What I am saying is that one of the earliest purposes for public education was so that Catholics immigrants would become “integrated” with their protestant countrymen. Read about Horace Greeley for more info on this.

There are so many bridges with such heavy traffic it seems an impossible task.

We all should hope that this is not terrorism related, but if it is, that cell or cells needs to be found quick. Especially if they are good at bringing down bridges with small charges.

Bridges would have been blowing up or crashing all over the place already, and something would have been in place to kill the first responders to each incident.

They have been blowing up bridges in Iraq quite regularly. One was just blown up in June. It was a suicide car bombing however. Apparently, Iraq bridges have made easy targets.

Remember years ago on some big media story he almost got charges pressed against him for getting into a cat fight with a woman over a parking place.

Man my prayers are with all ya’ll who have to travel over any bridge in that vicinity the next few weeks, only because of thought of this tradgedy.

First, prayers for all those who were killed in this horrible tragedy. Prayers for their families and friends as they deal with this nightmare. Prayers also for those who were injured, that their recoveries may be swift and complete. Prayers for the witnesses and survivors as I imagine this will take a long time for them to overcome. And last but not least, prayers for the first responders, and witnesses who came to the aid of all those in need at the scene and the medical personnel who are treating the injured — God please bless everyone affected by this with strength, courage, wisdom and comfort.

Thank you idkfa for posting the flickr album. As i look at those pictures I am simply amazed by some of them... There is one picture in there that shows the underside of a section that has bent all the way across, simply amazing the forces that must have been present to bend steel such as that.
