Enough with the Uncle Tom Name Calling

Black Americans, who love their country, are not separatists and do not view everything through the prism of race are called “Uncle Toms” by black civil rights dinosaurs that refuse to acknowledge black progress. Imagine the absurdity of a sports team winning the championship refusing to accept the trophy. Civil rights pioneers fought a great fight and won. And yet, many of them reject victory and seek to punish contemporary blacks who are prosperously moving forward in their lives thanks to the heroic efforts of these civil rights pioneers.

Dr King dreamed of a day when men would be judged by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin. Ironically, pioneers who marched with Dr King are calling contemporary blacks sellouts, traitors and Uncle Toms because they have grown beyond victim-hood-ism and relating to whites through an invisible wall of race.

Some civil rights veterans are bottom feeding race peddlers. Most others are well intentioned, but stuck in the past. They still believe that a black face must be in a political office for blacks to be represented. Applying this logic, should white voters feel unrepresented if their city commissioner is black? True representation is achieved by voting for candidates who mirror your values rather than your skin color.

Old school civil rights blacks reject black politicians who see America as the land of opportunity. Despite the fact that Oprah Winfrey, a black woman, made 260 million dollars last year, they faithfully promote the destructive myth of limited opportunity for blacks. At a time in American history when a black woman, Condoleezza Rice, would be a strong contender for the presidency if she chose to run, black dinosaurs are still singing, ‘We Shall Overcome”. They ‘evil eye’ and question the loyalty of blacks who will not join in singing the outdated chorus.

Fortunately, many contemporary blacks have tasted the American Dream and find it very good; as expressed in the song lyric, “How you gonna keep them down on the farm after they’ve seen Paris?”

It is extremely unpleasant to be called an “Uncle Tom” by fellow blacks. Still, more and more black entrepreneurs are ignoring the old school rhetoric, striving for excellence, pursuing their dreams and reaping success. Dr. King would be proud.

Spot on Llyod.

It is the old liberal trick of maintaining group consensus through the ostisization of those whos actions and word threaten that uninimity.

I hope the whole thing unravels soon, cause it has made me sick to my stomach throughout my life.

Well done.

civil rights dinosaurs

Somebody would have to be really old, like Jesse Jackson, to still be using that ancient terminology. If they are that old, they will be getting out a lot less and speaking up a lot less as time goes on.

Do they call you late at night or early in the A.M.? (I’m trying to figure out why people calling Mr. Name is objectionable. :)

My nieces can’t say my first name - they just call me Aunt K.

To which I believe Maxine Waters replies "Stop quoting dead Saints."

So there.

Your position is admirable, your logic flawless, your naivete glaring; you don’t really expect the pimps to share the profits with the whores, do you?

Adversity is a galvanizing force, it’s only lately that we we’ve found a need to invent it.

Looks like it is time to repeat these timeless words of Truth:

"There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs. There is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don't want the patient to get well."

-- Booker T. Washington (1911)

My uncle used to call at 4 AM and say “I was up and figured you might as well be”. I just told him “That’s OK I had to get up and answer the phone anyway.”

The damage the black community keeps inflicting upon itself is stunning.

IN Cincinnati a couple of years ago, a 14 year old with a 4.0 GPA was routinely beaten up, castigated, called every horrible name you can think of.

Her crime? Testing so well her so called ‘peers’ accused her of trying to be ‘white’.

No riot. No protest marches. No Al Sharpton traveling circus came to town. No Jesse Jackson...nothing.

Apparently the ‘usual suspects’ agreed with the young girls tormentors....

I'm trying to think of an exception to this rule...

Good post! America would become so much stronger if black Americans would simply walk away from the broken promises of the Democrat Party and simply believe in themselves that they can succeed, that they don’t NEED to depend on government.

Helping lead the charge to turn it around is a man by the name of Jesse Lee Peterson, a man with permanent hero status in my world.
