I'm not going to call Bill O'Reilly a liar... yet, but... on his TV show today, he read off a laundry list of ridiculous "hate" statements like "I hate blacks," "Hillary should be assassinated" and "homosexuals are dogs" that he said he personally found on Free Republic and claims that they were posted here today. I do not believe that. I doubt that he personally logged on to FR and I doubt he found any such thing posted here today.
Who knows what we may have missed and is buried deep in our archives of millions of posts, but our readers do a pretty good job of alerting us to anything out of bounds that is posted and we pull it. Also, one of our readers found a couple of the quotes he alleges, and if they are the ones O'Reilly is complaining about, he took them way out of context. They were simply quotes in the articles posted not statements posted by FReepers.
As soon as he provides me a list of the alleged posts and their URLs, I'll believe him. If he doesn't... then... well, guess he'll deserve to be known as what he is.
Good point, and on top off all that, he wants people to wear The Factor gear. The guy's a walking ego.
So is Bill looking to join Dan Rather in the Disgraced Anchorfossil Hall of Fame?Remember, O'Reilly has had it out for Free Republic ever since we exposed his buddy Dan Rather, whom he defended, and still defends to this day.
I look forward to his Fox-counsel-required, hat-in-hand retraction and apology.
First they go and purposefully agitate against anonymous, now they’re coming after we honorable members of the Order of the Stuned Beeber.
Is that nuts or what? :p
That man’s a trooper.
I hope you guys can wrap your minds around just what an insidious piece of slander this was. And it would be no less so if someone actually did post what he claimed was posted.
He looked the black members of his audience in the eye and told them there is a website out there that is a hate site against black people with the purpose in mind of indicting an entire community of 1st amendment utilizers for what one poster may have or may have not said.
If he'd use an example of racism to tarnish the entire community, what if someone posted "Death to the infidels" on FR? Would he use that as evidence of hate emanating from this website? If he wouldn't use that against us but he'd use some slur against blacks against us, does he believe that using slurs against blacks is a conservative trait?
He should be fired and if he isn't fired, he and his network have to be charged with slander or else the very idea of having a large community where people can come to discuss, debate and opine is no longer feasible.
Lannie Davis lumped us in with all the “right wing crazies” too. And Lannie was especially grumpy about Ann Coulter.
What most people don’t understand is that disruptors come onto this website from DU and MoveOn, etc., where they spew their vile stuff .. and then blame FReepers for the statements.
This is nothing new .. it’s been going on for as long as I’ve been here.
The FReepers I’ve met are 180 degrees away from writing any of the horrible stuff I’ve seen at DU or MoveOn, etc.
Somebody needs to tell O’Reilly to PROVE HIS ACCUSATION. And .. even if he has a copy of the msg .. that WILL NOT PROVE THE PERSON IS A “FREEPER”; There are FReepers and there are just posters.
O’Really’s biggest failing is that he feels he has to make ridiculous anti-right statements to make himself look “fair and balanced” to the far left who will never watch his show, never give him the benefit of the doubt, and will always believe what they are told to believe about the man. And in doing so, he loses credibility among the ones who are actually on his side most of the time.
Bill has it out for all bloggers and internet sites where the “folks” can participate in political punditry and pontification, be it DailyKOS or Free Republic.
He feels his unique “voice of the folks” is threatened by it.
He was just as affronted as the rest of establishment journalism that a bunch of nobodies in their pajamas could dare take on Dan Rather.
How about it Michelle (”Friday Factor”) Malkin? What say you?
He probably saw the Hunter-Fred war and got scared.
That’s about the size of it.
Michael Savage has been bashing Bill O’Reilly and “Mollach” Murdoch for 5 years now. So many here attacked him for it, but as usual he was right.
West Coast FNC “Factor begins in ninety seconds” (give or take local cable spots). Caveat Emptor.
Sure, he’s Republican-sympathetic most of the time, but so are Klansmen. Truth hurts, and so should O’Reilly.
Sorry, pal.
Ring a ding ding! Please let me go on record pronouncing this as his "jump the shark" moment. Sigh. Letterman called it before I did.
Pithy!
“Somewhere there’s a nail...”
Back atcha.
Doesn't show up at google at all very often. Nothing to do with FR, DKOS, or anywhere close to either that I could find.
